Chapter 70
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Once Belinda had left, Amanda turned to Lucas and couldnât help but express her thoughts. âLucas, what on earth has happened to Belinda in these last three years? She seems so different now.â
Lucas shared a bit about Belindaâs past troubles with hormone medicine during her childhood.
âI see,â Amanda said, a look of realization crossing her face. She then looked back at Lucas earnestly. âNow that Belinda is back, you should really cherish her and make the most of your lives together.â
Lucasâ face remained stoic as he responded, âWeâre actually planning to get a divorce.â
Amanda suddenly furrowed her brows. âWhy? Is it because of that Verena?â
Lucas replied with measured calm, âMrs. Singh, youâre well aware of the reasons why I married Belinda in the first place.â
Amandaâs expression flickered at his words.
After a brief pause, Amanda said, âEven if your initial reasons were strategic, three years is a long time. Itâs hard to believe there arenât genuine feelings between you two now. Plus, Belinda has been nothing but devoted to you. Itâs not every day you find someone who loves you so wholeheartedly. Lucas, you really should cherish her.â
She pursed her lips firmly before adding, âVerena isnât the right choice for you.â
Lucas furrowed his brows, looking at Amanda intently. âYouâve barely met Verena. What makes you so sure about her not being the right one for me?â He then scoffed lightly. âOr did that old man say something about Verena to you?â
Amanda shot him a scolding glance. âLucas! Thatâs your father youâre talking about!â
She paused for a moment, her tone softening. âI might not know Verena well, but thereâs something off about her.â
Lucas replied with a hint of resignation, âSince when did you start basing your judgments on vibes?â
Caught off guard by Lucasâ remark, Amanda said, âTrust me and your father. We wouldnât steer you wrong. Verena isnât the right woman for you.â
Lucasâ eyes narrowed, his voice carrying a weight of finality. âIâm the only one who can decide whatâs right for me.â
Seeking to shift away from this topic, he asked, âHow is Mr. Singh doing now?â
Amanda, sensing his reluctance to delve further into the topic about Verena, replied, âJordyâs doing well. His surgery is already scheduled.â
âThatâs good to hear,â Lucas nodded, his tone relieved.
He spent the next hour in Jordyâs hospital room until a call from his assistant about a company issue prompted his departure.
As he approached the elevator, a gentle voice halted him. âMr. Clarkâ¦â
Lucas paused momentarily before turning around. His expression remained neutral when he recognized the person approaching him.
