Chapter 649
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

That evening, Harold invited Belinda to dinner, and Lucas shamelessly tagged along.
When Belinda entered the private room and saw Lucas there, she wasnât even surprised.
Throughout the meal, Belinda focused on her conversation with Harold, blatantly ignoring Lucas. Lucas, knowing he wasnât exactly welcome, wisely kept quiet and listened silently.
âBelinda, if anyone ever messes with you, donât keep it to yourself. You must tell me! Even though you and Lucas are divorced, youâll always be like family to me,â Harold said.
Belinda smiled softly, moved by Haroldâs words. âThank you, Harold.â
She had always regarded Harold as family.
âOh, that reminds me, how did things go with you and Devin after your blind date?â Harold asked.
He had deliberately asked this in the presence of Lucas. Belinda set her glass down and answered honestly, âGood. Mr. Davidson is kind, knowledgeable, and has great character.â
She wasnât lying. Among her blind dates, Devin had left the best impression.
Haroldâs eyes lit up. âThatâs wonderful! I think you two should spend more time together. Iâve known Devin since he was a child; he is indeed a great person.â
Lucas, who had been silently fuming, finally spoke up.
âDad!â
His deep voice carried a note of warning. âIs it really appropriate to introduce another man to your daughter-in-law while Iâm sitting right here?â
Harold snorted and said, âEx-daughter-in-law.â
Lucasâ face darkened. âEven if sheâs my ex-wife, sheâs still the one Iâm pursuing now!â
Harold replied, âIf youâre pursuing her, then so can others. As far as Iâm concerned, Devinâs a better match for her!â
Lucas couldnât help but clench his teeth tightly.
What a wonderful father he had!
Harold ignored Lucas entirely and turned back to Belinda with a warm smile. âBelinda, what do you think about trying things with Devin?â
Lucas immediately fixed his gaze on Belinda, waiting anxiously for her answer.
Belindaâs expression shifted to a faint awkwardness.
Forcing a small smile, she responded, âUh, while I enjoy chatting with Mr. Davidson, my feelings for him arenât romantic. Honestly, being single suits me just fine right now.â
Lucas exhaled quietly, a subtle wave of relief washing over him.
