Chapter 623
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

As soon as Belinda returned to the banquet hall, Bethany slid next to her and whispered, âWhat did that Davidson woman want with you?â
âShe told me to stay away from her brother,â Belinda replied calmly. âApparently, a divorced woman like me doesnât deserve her brother.â
Bethany rolled her eyes. âSeriously? She made it sound like you were chasing after her brother! How ridiculous! Does she think her brother is so perfect or something?â
Belinda just smiled. âItâs understandable. After all, I am a divorcee and donât have a decent background. When all is said and done, I really am not worthy to be with her brother.â
Besides, I did go on a date with Devin before, so I canât really blame his sister for being concerned.â
Bethany said, âSo what if youâre divorced? Youâre still quite the catch now, Belinda.â
Belinda chuckled softly and didnât say anything more.
Halfway through the banquet, Bethany excused herself to the bathroom. But twenty minutes passed, and Bethany still didnât return.
Belinda started to feel worried. She was contemplating whether to go look for Bethany when a waiter walked up to her.
âExcuse me, are you Miss Belinda Wright?â he inquired politely.
âYes, I am,â Belinda nodded.
âAre you acquainted with Miss Bethany Yates?â the waiter asked.
Belinda was startled by this. âDid something happen to Bethany?â
âWell, Miss Yates accidentally got her dress wet while she was in the restroom. Sheâs now in the lounge, and she asked me to come and fetch you. She was hoping you could go there and help her,â the waiter replied.
âI see. All right, please lead the way,â Belinda said without a secondâs hesitation.
The waiter then led the way. It was too quick for Belinda to notice, but the waiterâs lips curled into a cunning smile for a moment.
Belinda quickened her steps, thinking of Bethany.
Another twenty minutes passed, and Bethany was finally back in the banquet hall. She scanned the crowd in search of Belinda.
When she didnât see Belinda anywhere, she called out to Johnson, âJohnson, have you seen Belinda?â
Her voice was loud enough that several people turned to look at her.
Johnson replied, âI donât think I have.â
âThatâs strange,â Bethany murmured with a frown. âWhere could she have gone?â
Just then, a waiter spoke up. âI saw Miss Wright heading toward the lounge earlier. She seemed a little unwell at the time.â
