Chapter 604
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âBelinda, youâre here!â Baker stood up from the sofa, looking genuinely happy to see Belinda.
Belinda, on the other hand, scowled at the sight of him. She couldnât help but admire Bakerâs audacity. After he had said so many hurtful things to her the last time, here he was now, greeting her like nothing had happened.
âHow are you feeling today, Mom?â Belinda ignored Baker and walked straight to Holleyâs bedside.
âMuch better,â Holley replied with a smile.
Baker sidled up next to Belinda and said, âI was really worried when I heard about your accident. Itâs such a relief to know that youâre okay. I always knew youâd get through whatever life throws your way, Belinda.â
Hearing these insincere words from Baker, Belinda couldnât help but chuckle, as if she had just heard a joke.
Baker had been worried about her? Belinda found this ridiculous. She considered it a blessing that Baker hadnât called to yell at her or accuse her of embarrassing him. But to go so far as to claim that he had been worried about her? She would be a fool to believe him.
For Bakerâs attitude to suddenly change so drastically on such short notice⦠he was likely buttering her up for another favor he planned to ask.
Bakerâs demeanor faltered when he noticed the mocking smile on Belindaâs face. He cursed her inwardly but quickly swallowed his anger, reminding himself of his purpose for visiting this time.
âBelinda,â Baker began, âdo you know who found that video of yours?â
Belinda turned to him with a raised eyebrow. âWhat does it matter whether I know that or not?â
Baker didnât beat around the bush. âA rumor has been going around that Mr. Clark traded a piece of land in Marshmill for that video to clear your name. Is that true?â
âMr. Wright,â Belinda said calmly, âregardless of whether it is true or not, this matter doesnât concern you.â
âWhat land? Belinda, is this true?â Holleyâs eyes widened with disbelief when she heard Bakerâs words.
Belinda looked at Holley. âYou donât need to concern yourself with this, Mom.â
âHow can I not?â Holley countered anxiously. âI am partly to blame for the incident. Please tell me, Belinda, is what Baker just said true?â
Belinda paused to take a deep breath before nodding. âItâs true.â
Bakerâs face immediately changed when he heard that. So it was true! Lucas had willingly given up billionsâ worth of assets for Belinda. Baker realized he had gravely underestimated her.
Holley, looking worried, said, âHowâwhy? Itâs all my fault! Belinda, Iââ
âItâs fine, Mom. Letâs not talk about it anymore. Just let it go,â Belinda interjected coldly.
Holley knew Belinda meant her words, so she wisely fell silent.
