Chapter 569
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Throughout the meal, Devin kept the conversation flowing.
This wasnât their first encounter, but it was the first time they had truly talked.
Halfway through the meal, Devin touched on the subject of Belindaâs recent ordeal.
âMs. Wright, I realize the attack must have been distressing, but gossip and rumors tend to fade over time. Eventually, the publicâs focus will shift elsewhere.â
Belinda smiled and nodded. âI know. Iâve stopped thinking about the matter.â
Devin replied, âWell thenââ
However, before he could finish speaking, a deep voice cut through the air.
âWhat are you two chatting about thatâs making you smile so brightly?â
Lucas appeared and sat down between Belinda and Devin.
He fixed a cold gaze on Devin. âDevin, weâre friends. But you dining with my wife alone isnât appropriate, is it?â
Devin simply smiled. âLucas, you and Ms. Wright are already divorced.â
Lucasâs expression remained unchanged. âOur divorce is only temporary.â
After a pause, he stated firmly, âShe belongs to me, and that will never change.â
âLucas, we have nothing to do with each other now,â Belinda suddenly said.
Her voice was calm but resolute, prompting a subtle shift in Lucasâs demeanor.
Devin maintained his composure. âLucas, Ms. Wright and I are merely friends. Even during your marriage, she was entitled to have friends, wasnât she?â
âFriends?â Lucasâs voice dripped with skepticism.
He stared piercingly at Devin. âDevin, did you come here today solely to make friends?â
Lucas had known Devin for years; he understood him well.
If Devin truly held no interest in Belinda, he wouldnât linger for more than half an hour for such a meal.
Yet tonight, Devin and Belinda had already been here for over an hour.
Furthermore, Harold had said that Devin mentioned he was available for Belinda anytime.
A man usually engrossed in his laboratory work claiming to have ample free timeâ¦
The implication was clear.
Devin maintained his smile, opting to remain silent.
When Lucas saw that, his breathing intensified, and his eyes turned frosty.
Belinda sighed and turned to Lucas. âLucas, can you please stop interfering in my life?â
When Lucas heard this, he quickly turned to face Belinda.
âNo!â he exclaimed stubbornly, his voice muffled by clenched teeth.
