Chapter 558
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âMr. Clark!â Gordon couldnât help but exclaim in disbelief.
However, Lucas only raised an eyebrow at him.
It was enough to shut down Gordonâs protests. âI understand.â He nodded.
Lucasâs swift and seemingly unwavering decision made Quentin feel a bit uneasy.
âThis video had better be authentic like you said,â Lucas said, fixing his sharp gaze on Quentin. âAnd donât think about playing any tricks, either. I assure you, you canât handle the consequences if you do.â
Quentin quickly nodded. âRest assured, Mr. Clark. I can stake my life on this videoâs authenticity. If you like, you can show it to Ms. Wright when you get the video, and she can verify it herself.â
The video had been captured by his men while they had been tailing Belinda, so there was no way it could be fake.
Quentinâs eyes grew wide as if he had just remembered something. âOh, I almost forgotâ¦â He shook the safe he was holding. âThis neat little safe is equipped with a self-destruct mechanism. It will activate when a single one among the fingerprint, password, and iris scan doesnât match, or when someone tries to force it open.â
There was a brief pause before he continued, âI think you wouldnât risk losing the only proof that can clear Ms. Wrightâs nameâ¦â
Lucas was not ruffled by his veiled threat in the slightest.
He simply continued to stare at Quentin.
Before long, Quentin felt a chill run down his spine.
He swallowed hard and cleared his throat. âLet me know when the documents are ready. I will hand over the video the moment the transfer process commences.â
With that, he turned on his heel and left with the safe.
âMr. Clark, are you sure about this?â Gordon asked worriedly the moment Quentin was gone. âYou need to be wary of a possible deception.â
âInvestigate Quentin for me,â Lucas ordered.
âYes, sir.â
Gordon then hesitated for a few seconds before he mustered up the courage to ask, âWhat about the land transfer documents? Should Iâ¦?â
âKeep preparing,â Lucas said calmly, without any hesitation.
Gordon furrowed his brow. âBut⦠What if itâs a trap?â
Lucas narrowed his eyes slightly. âEven if it is, I have to do this,â he responded firmly.
Gordon fell silent, unsure how to respond.
Internally, he couldnât help but think to himself that even Lucas was a lovesick fool.
Taking a deep breath, Gordon said, âIâll continue the investigation and look for more evidence. Iâll also have someone investigate Quentin and get the documents ready.â
âAlright.â Lucas nodded, his expression unreadable.
In the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Grand Plains General Hospital, early in the morning, Belindaâs phone rang; it was Harold calling.
âHello, Harold,â Belinda said.
