Chapter 517
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lyle scoffed, his tone dismissive. âOh? She hit herself? Belinda, maybe you should try a more believable lie. Has Kylee gone mad? Why would she hit herself?â
Belinda let out a cold chuckle. âExactly, she has lost it.â
âBelinda!â Lyle exclaimed in anger.
âWhatâs the shouting for?â Belinda countered, staring him down.
âI asked why you hit Kylee,â Lyle said, his jaw clenched.
Standing her ground, Belinda responded, âIâve said it beforeâI didnât hit her. She slapped herself to frame me.â
Kylee looked pained and turned to Belinda. âI canât believe youâd say thatâ¦â
âStop the act,â Bethany scoffed, looking at Kylee with disdain.
âI trust Kylee; she wouldnât lie,â Lyle said firmly.
Belindaâs eyes briefly flickered at his unwavering trust. She lowered her gaze and said calmly, âBelieve her if you wish; thatâs your business. But the truth wonât changeâshe hit herself.â
âWhether you believe it or not is up to you.â Belinda sat back down. âAnything else? If not, please leave.â
Lyle sneered. âYou think denial will make this go away?â
Belinda met his gaze firmly. âWhat do you want then?â she asked.
âSimple,â Lyle replied. âLet Kylee slap you back. Then, you should apologize to her. If you do that, I will let this matter go.â
Belindaâs gaze sharpened, a chill in her eyes. âDream on!â
Bethany erupted at Lyle.
At that moment, Johnson also spoke up. âLyle, this doesnât seem fair. Kylee claims Belinda hit her, but Belinda insists Kylee hit herself. You believe Kylee, but we trust Belinda more. Why should we just accept Kyleeâs version of the story and make Belinda apologize?â
Lyle gave Johnson a frosty glare. âThis has nothing to do with you, Johnson. Stay out of it.â He then turned back to Belinda, his voice menacing. âBelinda, I will not let you leave until we settle this.â
No sooner had he spoken than the door burst open. A tall, commanding figure entered, one hand nonchalantly in his pocket, moving with effortless grace.
Lucas looked at Lyle, his dark eyes devoid of warmth. He parted his lips slightly and said, âYou are really bold for saying that, Mr. Happer!â
When Lyle saw Lucas, his expression changed slightly.
âLucas, what brings you here?â he asked.
The Clark family and the Happer family had long been allies, and Lucas and Lyle had known each other for years. Yet, Lucasâs look was cold now.
In a raspy voice, Lucas said, âYouâve been causing trouble for my woman. How could I not show up?â
Surprise flickered through the room at his words.
Belindaâs brow furrowed. Why was Lucas referring to her as his woman?
