Chapter 516
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Kylee sniffled softly, shaking her head again. âIt was me⦠I did this to myself.â
Lyleâs disbelief was palpable. âYou did this to yourself? Kylee, donât take me for a fool. Tell me the truth,â he said, his tone growing more insistent.
Avoiding his gaze, Kylee whispered, âPlease, letâs not talk about this anymore! Iâm fine, really.â
Her voice cracked, betraying her emotional turmoil.
Lyleâs gaze intensified. âShould I check the security cameras now?â
Panicking, Kylee reached out and clutched Lyleâs arm.
âNo, donât! Please, just stay here. Itâs nothing serious. Belinda and I are practically family, and itâs just a minor thing, not worth your concern.â
âIâ¦â She trailed off, her expression becoming uneasy.
Lyleâs expression darkened. âSo, it was Belinda who hit you?â
Kylee bit her lip, struggling to clarify. âIt was a spur-of-the-moment thing; thatâs all it was. She didnât mean to hit me.â
Lyleâs tone turned icy, his frustration palpable. âActing on impulse doesnât justify violence! Why did she hit you?â he demanded.
Kylee pressed her lips together for a moment, her eyes beginning to water. âLyle, itâs complicated⦠Ever since Belinda returned from abroad, she has become different. She seems to harbor more resentment towards me, and it has strained our relationship.â
âThatâs no excuse for her to resort to violence, no matter the circumstances!â Lyle said, his expression dark as he tried to lead Kylee out of the room.
Kylee resisted. âPlease, Lyle, donât confront Belinda. I really donât blame her for this.â
âBut I blame her! We canât let this slide. Come on,â Lyle said, pulling Kylee toward the private room where Belinda was.
There was a loud knock on the door of Belindaâs private room. The door swung open, revealing Lyle and Kylee standing in the doorway.
Belinda looked up, her expression calm as she saw them enter.
Bethanyâs brow furrowed. âWhat brings you here?â
âI need to talk to Belinda about something,â Lyle stated flatly as he approached Belinda with Kylee beside him.
âBelinda,â he called in a hostile tone.
Belinda met his gaze, her expression tightening slightly. Lyleâs features were as striking as ever, but his eyes were cold, a stark contrast to the warmth she had once known. The sight of him stirred a flurry of emotions inside Belinda. Her breathing became slightly heavier.
âArenât you going to explain the situation?â Lyleâs voice cut through the tension, demanding an answer.
âExplain what?â Belinda said calmly.
âWhy did you hit Kylee?â Lyle demanded coldly.
Upon hearing Lyleâs accusation, Bethany and Johnson noticed that Kyleeâs right cheek was flushed red, a faint handprint visible upon closer inspection. The two exchanged glances, questioning silently. Did Belinda really hit Kylee? But even if Belinda did indeed hit her, Kylee probably deserved it. They shared a knowing look, silently agreeing.
Belinda lifted her gaze lazily. âShe slapped herself. It has nothing to do with me,â she said.
