Chapter 512
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Harold spoke with an unsettling calm, discussing her situation as if he were talking about the weather.
The color drained from Verenaâs face, and she struggled to hold back her tears. She didnât know how to respond now.
Before she could say anything, Harold continued, âIf you canât manage it on your own, donât worry. I can send someone to assist you. So, have you decided how you want to end it?â
Verena stared at Harold, horrified, unable to believe the words he was saying. She swallowed hard before finally speaking. âHaroldâ¦â
Haroldâs laugh was cold as he fixed her with a piercing stare. âHaving second thoughts about dying now?â
Verena swallowed hard, her expression tense as she spoke. âHarold, my previous suicide attempt was a moment of misguided despair. Having faced death so closely, I now realize how precious life is. I wonât consider killing myself again.â
âIs that so? Itâs good that you think that way,â Harold replied, his smile mocking. âBut Verena, now that Lucas has realized his feelings for Belinda and is repairing his relationship with her, you should keep your distance. Avoid causing any more trouble. Otherwise, I wonât hesitate to take drastic measures.â
Harold emphasized âdrastic measures,â underscoring his threat. He then let out a cold laugh. âYou wouldnât want to revisit those days from three years ago, would you?â
Verena paled, trembling slightly at Haroldâs words. The memory of those days sent shivers down her spine. This was a clear, direct threat.
âHaroldâ¦â Verena began, but Harold quickly cut her off.
âUnless itâs absolutely necessary, Iâd rather not resort to such extremes. So, Verena, donât push me. Otherwise, I promise you, Iâll choose a place where no one can find you or save you,â Harold said.
His calm demeanor belied the stark threat in his tone.
Verenaâs face turned even paler. Before she could say anything, Harold stood up and walked away, leaning heavily on his cane.
Later that evening, in a private room at a restaurant, Bethany eyed the bandage on Belindaâs neck and asked, âBelinda, what happened to you? Why is your neck wrapped in gauze?â
Johnson had organized the gathering.
Touching her neck, Belinda replied in a raspy voice, âI just had a minor accident.
âWhy is your voice so raspy? What exactly happened?â Johnson inquired, concern furrowing his brow.
Belinda chose not to hide the details and shared the events from the previous night.
âWhat?â Bethany and Johnson both looked shocked upon hearing that.
âThat jerk Lucas! This is all his fault!â Bethany said angrily.
Johnsonâs face mirrored her grim expression. He was clearly blaming Lucas too.
