Chapter 492
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

After dinner, Nigel went back to his room and called Harold. âHarold, I spoke with Devin about your suggestion, and he has agreed! Please arrange a time for Devin and Belinda to meet,â Nigel said.
On the other end of the line, Harold was momentarily stunned by the news.
After hanging up the call with Nigel that day, Harold felt a pang of remorse. He wondered if it had been unwise to suggest his former daughter-in-law meet his friendâs eldest grandson. Still, Harold reassured himself by thinking of Devinâs pride as the Davidson familyâs eldest grandson. He doubted Devin would entertain the idea of meeting Belinda. After all, while impressive, Belinda was still Lucasâ ex-wife. Harold was certain Devin would not want to go on a date with her because of that.
However, contrary to Haroldâs expectations, Devin had accepted the proposal. Harold was caught off guard.
âDevin actually agreed? Nigel, please tell me you didnât coerce him into this,â Harold said skeptically.
From the other end of the line, Nigel sounded somewhat resigned. âHarold, you know Devin. Itâs impossible to force him into doing anything he doesnât want to do. He actually agreed on his own, and he even said heâs available anytime. Can you imagine that? Itâs usually a struggle to get him home for dinnerâheâs always buried in lab work. But now, he suddenly has free time.â Nigelâs voice carried a hint of frustration.
Haroldâs eyes flickered when he heard that. It seemed Devin was genuinely interested in the meeting and, surprisingly, enthusiastic about it. Before Harold could respond, Nigel added, âSo, Harold, please check with Belinda about her schedule. Letâs organize a time for them to meet.â
Harold paused for a moment before cautiously replying, âAlright, Iâll see what I can do. However, we need to tread carefully. Remember the incident with the Wagner family, when their son tried to tamper with Belindaâs drink during the date? Since then, Belinda has been quite apprehensive about these dates. We might need to give this matter some time before arranging anything.â
Nigel nodded in agreement. âUnderstood. Weâll hold off for now, but letâs not let this slip off our radar,â he said.
âAlright,â Harold replied. After a brief exchange, the call ended.
Norma, who had been sitting beside Harold, spoke up. âDid Devin really agree?â
Before Harold could respond, the butlerâs voice echoed in the room. âLucas is back,â he announced.
As Lucas entered the living room, Haroldâs expression subtly shifted. Turning to Norma, he said, âYes, Devin has agreed. He even said heâs available anytime. Now, it all depends on Belinda.â
Lucas furrowed his brows at the mention of Belinda, tension evident in his features.
âDoes this mean Devin is really interested in Belinda?â Norma asked, clearly surprised.
