Chapter 488
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Annetta blinked, clearly shocked. It was hard to believe that Belinda had already been married once. After a brief pause, she responded thoughtfully, âYouâve just ended a marriage, so now might not be the right time for you to meet someone new. But I do hope youâll consider Darwin in the future. Heâs really an exceptional young man.â
Belinda was surprised that Annetta continued to advocate for Darwin even after hearing about her divorce. She laughed awkwardly and quickly changed the subject. âHere, try this dish, Annetta. Itâs delicious.â
She then steered the conversation away from personal matters. Despite the brief awkwardness, their meal was quite enjoyable.
By the time they finished eating, Annetta had grown even fonder of Belinda. After the meal, they walked together to the parking lot. As they approached Belindaâs car, she noticed someone standing near itâLucas. She furrowed her brows slightly. Darwin narrowed his eyes when he saw Lucas, his curiosity piqued.
âBelinda, who is this?â Annetta asked, her tone curious.
âJust a friend,â Belinda replied. After a brief pause, she added, âAnnetta, I should head out now. Letâs plan another get-together soon.â
âAlright,â Annetta said, nodding with a smile.
Belinda walked over, opened her car door, and got in. Without hesitation, Lucas slid into the passenger seat. Belinda then drove off.
Watching Belindaâs car disappear into the distance, Annetta turned to Darwin with a puzzled look. âWhy do I sense something off between Belinda and that man?â she asked.
âThat man is Belindaâs ex-husband,â Darwin explained. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he spoke, his eyes reflecting a touch of complexity. It seemed to him that Belinda still held a significant place in Lucasâ heart.
This revelation piqued Annettaâs interest. âSo thatâs him! He really does seem like a gentleman,â she remarked, glancing sideways at Darwin. âBut Darwin, that question you asked Belinda earlier was a bit out of line. Whatâs going on with you?â
Darwin narrowed his eyes slightly, choosing to remain silent.
âDo you have feelings for Belinda?â Annetta asked.
Darwin merely curved his lips into a subdued smile, keeping his thoughts to himself. However, his response was telling, and Annetta responded with a knowing grin.
Meanwhile, as Belinda drove, she confronted Lucas. âYou followed me this morning, and now again at noon. What do you want?â
Lucas answered calmly, âCanât you tell that Iâm pursuing you?â
Belinda was taken aback. âPursuing me?â She felt as if she had just heard a joke. This was surely an unusual way to pursue someone.
Belinda let out a cold laugh. âLucas, this is absurd.â
