Chapter 480
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âAppearances are really deceiving, arenât they?â
âThis Lucas being discussed, is he Lucas Clark from the prestigious Clark family?â
âOh my God! No way! That means Dr. Wright used to be Mr. Clarkâs wife?â
âI just remembered something! Did you know Verena was Mr. Clarkâs ex-girlfriend? Their scandal was huge! I heard Mr. Clark ended his marriage with Belinda after Belinda allegedly pushed Verena down from the second floor at Haroldâs birthday party. The very next day, Mr. Clark filed for divorce from Belinda!â This bit of gossip was blurted out by a relative of a patient.
âIs that true? Belinda sounds quite sinister, and sheâs supposed to be a doctor? Talking about saving lives but acting like this? Sheâs really shameless!â
A flurry of disdainful glares and mocking jeers quickly followed, directed at Belinda.
Amidst this, Verena couldnât help but feel a surge of satisfaction. This was the outcome she had wantedâruining Belindaâs reputation to the extent that she would be unable to stay in the hospital.
Despite noticing the accusatory stares and harsh whispers, Belindaâs demeanor remained unaffected, as though the person being discussed were not her.
It was then that Verena, adopting a tone of false distress, turned to her and said, âMs. Wright, now that you and Lucas are no longer married, canât you just let us be?â
âYes, Dr. Wright, itâs time for you to stop obsessing over your ex-husband!â

âExactly! Your actions are shameless!â
âYou already pushed Miss Reed down the stairs before. Isnât that enough?â
The harsh, scornful words pierced Belindaâs ears like sharp daggers.
With deliberate steps, she moved closer to Verena.
She came to a halt right in front of her, a faint smirk curling her lips as she said, âSo, I stole your man? You think Iâm still holding onto Lucas?â
âYes!â Verena responded, straightening up defiantly, her stance suggesting she felt entirely justified in her accusation.
Belinda gave a soft laugh and a nod.
Without another word, she reached into the pocket of her white coat and pulled out her phone to make a call.
Watching this, Verena felt a sudden wave of anxiety wash over her.
Then, she heard Belinda say into the phone, âMr. Clark, could you come to the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Grand Plains General Hospital right now?â
Verenaâs expression transformed in an instant when she heard this.
Lucasâ concerned voice quickly came from the other end of the phone, âWhy? Did something happen?â
âYouâll see when you arrive.â Belinda ended the call abruptly before Lucas could inquire further.
