Chapter 469
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda cast her gaze downward, her long lashes quivering faintly. When she spoke, her voice was steady, stripped of any emotion. âI wonât deny that I still love him. But Iâm tired now. I canât keep loving him anymore. So, whether Lucas cares about me or not, it no longer matters to me.â
Her words hung in the air, delivered with such calmness that it was as if she were speaking of something entirely trivial. There was no trace of emotion in her voice.
The more poised Belinda seemed, the more unsettled Johnson became. After all this time, Lucas had finally realized his feelings for Belinda, yet now, Belindaâ¦
Then again, Johnson believed what Belinda had said was understandable. Belinda had fully let go of Lucas, and with that, she had no hope left for their relationship.
With that in mind, Johnson chose not to press further on the matter, not wanting to pressure Belinda. It was wiser for him to stay out of it and allow things to unfold on their own.
Although he tried to convince himself of that, later onâ¦
After dinner, Johnson sat in his car in the parking lot, his mind made up. Despite everything, he still sent Lucas the time and location of Belindaâs blind date.
Five minutes later, Lucasâ name flashed on his phone screen. He was calling him.
Johnson picked up the phone. âHello?â

âI sent you the details for Belindaâs blind date tonight,â Johnson replied casually.
On the other end of the line, Lucasâ expression darkened instantly. âIs she going on another blind date today?â he asked.
Johnson responded calmly, âYes. The moment I got the time and location, I sent them to you. What you do with that information is entirely up to you.â He felt it was best to leave it at that.
âUnderstood,â Lucas replied, his voice laced with a subtle edge of frustration. After a brief pause, his tone softened. âAppreciate it, Johnson.â
Johnson rolled his eyes, his expression dripping with annoyance. âSpare me the gratitude. Just do me a favor and donât punch me again in the future, alright? Iâm even starting to feel scared of you!â
Hearing that, Lucas couldnât help but chuckle.
âAlright, alright! Cut the sarcasm. Iâm sorry, okay?â he said.
Not ready to let the matter go so easily, Johnson replied, âAn apology wonât cut it. From now on, every time we go out for dinner, drinks, or anything, youâre footing the bill.â
He brazenly spelled out his demand.
âAlright, no problem,â Lucas responded without a second thought.
âNow thatâs what Iâm talking about. Alright, I need to hang up now.â With that, Johnson ended the call.
Later in the evening, Lucas arrived at the Millland Restaurant. He opted for a window seat in a quiet corner.
