Chapter 394
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Hearing this, Belinda couldnât help but smile and nod. âOkay.â
She opened the car door, got out, and walked into the house. Harold was in the living room, flipping through a newspaper. Seeing Belinda return at this time, he looked at her in surprise.
Before Harold could speak, Belinda asked, âHarold, can we talk?â
The seriousness in Belindaâs voice and the look on her face sent a shiver of foreboding through Harold.
Belinda entered the study and eased onto the sofa, placing the signed divorce agreement on the table before her. As Harold caught sight of it, his expression changed in an instant. His eyes met Belindaâs, a crease forming between his eyebrows.
He spoke in a trembling voice, âBelinda, have you and Lucasâ¦â
His worst fears were now a reality. He had never thought Belindaâs relationship with Lucas would come to this.
Pressing her lips together for a moment, Belinda responded, âIâm sorry, Harold. I know this isnât the outcome you were hoping for. Lucas and I just arenât meant to be.â
âIs Verena the reason for your divorce?â Harold asked.
Not denying it, Belinda admitted, âVerena is part of the reason, but the real issue is with Lucas and me. He doesnât love me, and thatâs the biggest problem in our relationship.â
Hearing this, Harold seemed to have something to say but hesitated. He believed the situation was different from what Belinda thought. Having seen it all, he felt Lucas did care for Belinda. Yet, those feelings might not have been strong enough. Or possibly, Lucas hadnât even realized his feelings himself, leading him to hurt Belinda without meaning to.

Shaking her head softly, Belinda replied, âWeâve given our relationship so many tries, yet nothing has changed. The truth is, Lucas and I just arenât right for each other. Itâs healthier for us both to end things now, so we can move on.â
She looked directly at Harold, her voice weary. âHaroldâ¦â
âIâm exhausted. I canât continue like this. I need to start living for myself.â
At her words, Harold felt an uncomfortable feeling stir within him. It dawned on him that throughout her marriage, Belinda had never truly found happiness or satisfactionâ¦
Harold exhaled deeply, burdened with concern. âMy dear, you have endured so much.â
âHarold.â Belinda looked at him earnestly, her red lips slightly parted, speaking each word with determination. âYou will always hold a place in my heart. Whenever possible, I will make sure to visit you.â
âUnderstood!â Haroldâs response was accompanied by repeated nods, his expression one of pity and resignation as he gazed at Belinda. He sincerely said, âI truly hope you find someone who treasures you as you deserve. Lucas is not fortunate enough to be that person.â
Belinda offered a grateful smile and nodded in acknowledgment. âI appreciate your words. If I find such a person, I will definitely bring him to meet you.â After a pause, she continued, lightening the mood, âAnd if you come across a good match for me, feel free to send him my way!â
âOf course! I will do that!â Harold nodded emphatically, and his agreement was not just a casual promise but something he intended to act upon. He believed Belinda was worthy of someone who would value and adore her.
