Chapter 37
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

At the Thomas family estate, Belinda found only Mollie at home when she arrived. Santino and Darren were both at the company.
Belinda greeted Mollie warmly.
âCome here, Belinda,â Mollie said. âDarren and I were just saying how much we missed you yesterday.â She gave Belinda a mock stern look, but her eyes twinkled with affection.
âAnd now here I am, back to see you.â Belinda sat down next to Mollie and linked arms with her, asking, âHow have you been? Any health issues lately?â
Mollie shook her head and replied, âI feel great! Ever since you performed that surgery for me, my heart hasnât troubled me once.â
Belinda smiled in response. âIâm glad to hear that.â
Years ago, during a trip to Chixdon, Mollie had suffered a heart attack on the street. As bystanders hesitated, Belinda had stepped in to provide critical first aid, saving Mollieâs life. Belinda later performed the surgery that fully restored Mollieâs health.
Throughout that time, Mollie and Santino had spent a lot of time with Belinda, growing to like her deeply. Eventually, Mollie had asked Belinda to become her goddaughter.
Mollie changed the subject, saying, âDarren mentioned you and Lucas were set to finalize the divorce documents today?â
âThat canât happen just yet,â Belinda pressed her lips together and then told Mollie about the details of her recent discussion with Harold.
After Mollie listened, she offered a smile. âIt seems Lucasâ father is subtly encouraging you two to reconsider. Heâd rather not see a divorce, hence this indirect approach.â

Mollie then inquired, âAnd how do you feel about this?â
With a slight smile, Belinda replied calmly, âIâm just waiting to finalize the divorce next month.â
Mollie looked surprised. âArenât you interested in trying just one more time?â
A bitter smile touched Belindaâs lips, her eyes reflecting a touch of irony. âAfter three years of failing to win Lucasâ heart, I donât think I can do that in a month.â
She took a breath before adding firmly, âEven if it were possible, I donât want to do that anymore. Iâm really exhausted. I no longer want my life to revolve around chasing someone elseâs affection. I want to live for myself now.â
Mollie expressed her support, saying, âThatâs a wise choice! I fully support your decision, dear.â
Belinda chuckled in response.
The rest of Belindaâs afternoon was spent in enjoyable conversation with Mollie in the living room. When Santino and Darren arrived home in the evening, they were thrilled to see Belinda, which made for a cheerful dinner atmosphere.
After dinner, Darren called Belinda to his study upstairs.
