Chapter 171
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda met his stare evenly, her voice firm. âAnd what if I donât do that?â
Lucasâs gaze intensified, his sharp eyes narrowing. His expression turned cold in an instant.
Belinda suddenly smiled. âMr. Clark, youâre frequently seen with Verena. Didnât you ignore my requests to distance yourself from her? If you cannot do that yourself, why do you think you have the right to ask me to do that? Isnât that a bit hypocritical?â
Lucasâs expression grew dark, and he remained silent, his stare piercing.
After a brief pause, an idea seemed to strike Belinda. She arched an eyebrow provocatively. âOr could it be that seeing me with another man bothers you, Mr. Clark? Does it make you jealous? Or angry?â
Lucasâs brows knitted together, a flash of annoyance betraying his usual stoicism as if Belindaâs words had struck a nerve. Yet, he maintained his poise on the surface, his emotions unreadable.
Moments later, his eyes glinted with sarcasm. âFeel free to mingle as you wish; just ensure you donât tarnish the Clark familyâs reputation or cause me embarrassment,â he said icily.
With those sharp words, he brushed past Belinda and made his way to the bathroom.
Belinda remained still, her emotions complicated. She wasnât taken aback by Lucasâs words, yet it still made her feel a bit hurt.
A few seconds later, she exhaled deeply and headed to another bathroom for a shower.
After showering, Belinda stepped out onto the balcony to call Darren.
âHome already?â Darrenâs voice, deep and charming, greeted Belinda as the call connected.
âYeah,â Belinda responded.
After a pause, she continued, âDarren, Iâm sorry for todayâs drama.â
Darrenâs laugh came through light and easy. âWhat are you apologizing for? You didnât cause it.â
âStill, I was the one who brought those two people along,â Belinda said, feeling resigned.
Darrenâs voice was comforting. âYou canât control what others do.â
After a brief silence, he inquired, âDoes your cousin have feelings for me?â
It was clear to anyone at that time that Lillie had feelings for Darren.
âYeah,â Belinda admitted, a trace of embarrassment in her voice.
Darren chuckled, his laughter tinged with a hint of scorn.
Belinda quickly reassured him, âBut donât worry. Iâve made it clear to her that she shouldnât bother you. If she uses me as an excuse to try to get close to you again, tell me right away.â
âI will,â Darren replied.
After a moment, he continued, âAnd even if she attempts anything, I wonât let her get close to me.â
âThatâs reassuring,â Belinda replied, her voice brightening with a smile.
Then, she said, âCould you please tell Santino and Mollie that work has kept me tied up recently? Iâll make time to see them as soon as I can.â
