Chapter 162
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âI have just one question,â he said, his voice deep and a little husky. âExactly when did you become the spider woman?â
And just like that, Belindaâs calm facade cracked. Anger and embarrassment crossed her face as she threw the covers aside and dashed into the bathroom at lightning speed.
She reeked of alcohol now, to the point that even her senses were overwhelmed by the scent.
Later, when Belinda finally emerged from the bathroom, Lucas was no longer in the room.
Belinda breathed a long sigh of relief.
But when she made her way downstairs and saw Harold, she almost lost her composure again when she remembered what she had done to him the previous night.
Belinda walked over to him with a sheepish smile. âIâm so sorry, Harold,â she said awkwardly. âI had too much to drink and made a fool of myself last night.â
Harold only laughed heartily. âOh, itâs all right, perfectly all right!â
But then, he went on to advise gently, âDrinking too much is never a good thing. Try to refrain from doing so from now on.â
âI understand,â Belinda nodded obediently.
âGood! Now, letâs go have breakfast,â Harold said.

With that, she hurried out of the house.
In the afternoon, Belinda received a call from Baker.
âWhat is it?â she asked curtly.
âCome home for dinner tonight,â Baker said.
Belindaâs response was quick and flat. âIf you have something to say to me, just say it over the phone now.â Bakerâs invitations to a meal were nothing more than excuses to reprimand her for one thing or another. Each time Belinda had a meal with him, she always left the Wright family estate stewing in pent-up anger.
âYour aunt Madonna and her family are visiting,â Baker said.
Belinda frowned. Now, she was even more unwilling to go back home for the meal. But after some thought, she said, âAll right. Iâll be there.â She didnât wait for Baker to say anything more and hung up on him.
After clocking off work, Belinda jumped in her car and drove straight to the Wright familyâs residence.
When she arrived, her aunt, Madonna Barnett, and her family were already there. Belinda greeted Madonna and her husband courteously.
âOh, my goodness! Is this really Belinda?â Madonnaâs eyes grew wide, and her jaw fell open. Baker had told her that Belinda looked completely different now, but nothing had prepared her for this. Seeing Belinda like this left her absolutely stunned.
Madonnaâs daughter, Lillie Barnett, was also gaping at Belinda in disbelief. âWait⦠Belinda, did you get cosmetic surgery?â
Madonna shot Lillie a pointed look. âStop spouting nonsense, Lillie!â Then, she turned back to Belinda with a warm smile. âBelinda has always been pretty. She just used to be chubby, so her features didnât stand out back then.â
Hearing this, Belinda turned her head slightly, looking at Madonna.
