Chapter 132
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

As Ryan spoke, a sneer twisted his lips, and a look of mockery flickered in his eyes. âBelindaâs sudden entrance immediately sparked discontent among the other doctors, as she bypassed the typical merit-based process. At the Thomas familyâs banquet, Darren mentioned Belinda was about to join the Grand Plains General Hospital, and everyone was practically singing her praises, calling her a genius and saying she was young and full of promise. Looking back, itâs clear now that the Thomas family mustâve used their influence to get her in.â
After a pause, he continued, âNow, the matter is stirring up a lot of peopleâs discontent. Belinda will probably be fired soon. A doctor dismissed from the Grand Plains General Hospital? She wonât have an easy time finding work anywhere else in the medical field.â
Lucasâ sharp eyes narrowed just slightly, his expression unreadable as a flash of something crossed his gaze.
He had already heard from Kylee how Belinda had managed to get into the hospital, but he hadnât anticipated the matter escalating this much.
There was definitely someone behind the scenes stirring the pot.
Verena turned to Lucas, her brow furrowed with worry. âIs it really that serious? Lucas, you have to do something to help Belinda.â
Ryan scoffed, rolling his eyes. âHelp? This is an internal issue at the Grand Plains General Hospital. Nobody can interfere.â
âIâm curious to see how this all plays out,â another man chimed in eagerly, an excited gleam in his eyes.
When Johnson saw the gloating expressions on the faces of those present, his expression remained unchanged.
They wanted to see Belinda fall? They were in for a disappointment.
He knew Caiden was aware of Belindaâs true identity and would never let her be dismissed.
In fact, it was more likely that he would shield her rather than let her go.
âAlright, enough about her,â Ryan said, clearly eager to change the subject, steering the conversation elsewhere.
The group quickly shifted gears, talking animatedly about other things.
After dinner, someone suggested heading to a bar, and the group, in high spirits, agreed to continue the night at Nostalgia Lounge.
Coincidentally, Belinda was also at Nostalgia Lounge that evening.
The first to spot Belinda was Johnson.
He squinted slightly, a playful smile tugging at his lips before he suggested, âBelindaâs here, too, Lucas. What do you say we invite her to join us?â
At Johnsonâs words, Lucas glanced in the direction of Belinda but remained silent.
His lack of response was enough of a consent.
âIâll go get her,â Johnson said, rising from his seat and making his way toward Belindaâs booth.
When Belinda saw Johnson approach, a flicker of surprise crossed her face. âYou guys are here, too?â she asked, her voice light with a hint of amusement.
Johnson nodded, flashing a warm smile. âCome and join us.â
