Chapter 1198
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âDonât you dare let him cross your mind!â Lucas shot her a sharp look, his voice carrying a possessive edge.
Belinda blinked at him, her face a mask of innocent surprise.
Lucas added, âYour thoughts belong to me, no room for any other guy!â Jealousy practically radiated off him in waves.
Belinda gave him a resigned glance.
This jealous streak of his was beyond redemption!
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor emerged from the emergency room.
âDoctor, howâs he doing?â Belinda asked, stepping forward.
âWeâve flushed his stomach, and the medicationâs effects have mostly worn off,â the doctor replied. âWeâve also patched up the cut on his arm. To be safe, he should stay overnight for observation. If all goes well, he can leave tomorrow.â
He handed Belinda a stack of forms. âPlease take care of the admission paperwork.â
âThank you, doctor,â Belinda replied, accepting the papers with a nod. She then turned to Lucas. âGo check on Devin. Iâll handle this.â
âAlright,â Lucas said, offering no resistance.
By the time Belinda completed the forms and stepped into Devinâs hospital room, he was propped up slightly in bed.
His complexion was pale.
âDevin, how are you feeling now?â Belinda asked gently.
At the sound of her voice, Devin turned his head toward her.
A weak smile flickered across his lips. âA lot better,â he said.
After a brief pause, he added, âDr. Wright, I canât thank you enough for today. If you hadnât been there, I donât think Iâdâ¦â His words faltered, caught somewhere deep in his chest.
Belinda stepped in before he could finish. âItâs over now. Iâm just relieved youâre alright.â
Devin gave a small nod, falling silent.
âGet some rest,â Belinda said.
Lucas spoke up. âDo you want us to arrange a caretaker for you?â
Devin shook his head. âNo, Iâm good now. I can handle things myself.â He glanced up at them both. âItâs late; you two should get going.â
Lucas nodded. âAlright, weâll head out. Call me if anything comes up.â
âWill do,â Devin replied.
âTake care,â Belinda said.
With that, Belinda and Lucas turned and left the room side by side.
On the drive home, Belinda let out a quiet sigh. âYou could see it in Devinâs face; heâs rattled. This whole mess has shaken him more than I thought it would.â
