Chapter 1179
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

The spacious living room suddenly felt oppressively quiet.
After a long while, Holley managed to say, âWhat do you want from me?â
Lamont slid his phone back into his pocket and replied casually, âIâve already saved a copy of that recording onto a USB and handed it to a friend. I gave him clear instructions that if anything happens to meâwhether itâs deliberate or an accidentâif I end up injured or dead, heâs to deliver it straight to Belinda Wright, the attending physician in the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Grand Plains General Hospital.â
Holley went rigid.
This was an outright threat!
Lamont didnât stick around. He rose to his feet and said, âIâm feeling a bit tired. Iâll take my leave now. Goodbye, Ms. Lewis.â
After a few steps, he stopped abruptly, as if struck by a sudden thought. Turning back, he added, âOh, and donât forget about my two million.â
With that, he left without a backward glance.
The sound of the door shutting echoed through the room. Only then did Holleyâs frustration boil overâshe slammed her fist on the table in anger.
That bastard! He had kept evidence!
What should she do now?
For a moment, Holley was utterly lost.
With shaky hands, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.
Time blurred until the door of Holleyâs place swung open.
âHolley!â Baker rushed in.
âBakerâ¦â Holley muttered, tears spilling down her cheeks the moment she saw him.
He wrapped her in his arms, soothing her for a while before saying, âTell me everythingâwhat did Lamont say to you?â
Still sniffling, Holley recounted the entire exchange.
Baker listened intently, his face serious. He didnât seem panicked.
âBaker,â Holley said, her voice trembling with panic, âLamont has a recording. Doesnât that mean heâs got us pinned? What can we do?â
Bakerâs expression darkened, but his tone remained steady. âStay calm. Thereâs still a way out of this.â
Upon hearing this, Holley immediately straightened up, her curiosity piqued. âWhat do you mean?â
Baker leaned forward slightly, his voice calm. âThink about it. Lamont already knows that the people after him are tied to you, so why didnât he go straight to Belinda and expose you? Why did he come back to you instead, revealing the existence of that recording?â
Holley blinked, still puzzled.
A cold sneer crossed Bakerâs lips before he regained his composure. âBecause, Holley, what he really wants is money. If Belinda were to uncover the truth, letâs not even discuss the fallout for usâdo you really think Lamont would walk away unscathed?â
