Chapter 1176
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belindaâs face flickered with emotion as she listened. After a brief pause, she gave a small nod. âI see. Thanks for letting me know.â She then glanced at Lucas. âIâm going to spend some time with my grandmother. Iâll join you in our room later.â
âAlright,â Lucas replied, offering a nod.
Belinda climbed the stairs and stepped into Keniaâs room. The space was dimly lit, illuminated only by the soft glow of a bedside lamp. Kenia lay still on the bed, barely stirring.
âGrandma, are you asleep?â Belinda asked in a gentle whisper. At the sound of her voice, Kenia propped herself up. âOh, Belinda, youâre home.â
Belinda crossed the room and sat down on the edge of the bed. âGrandma, Margie mentioned you hardly ate at dinner. Whatâs going on? Are you neglecting your health when Iâm not here to keep an eye on you?â Belinda furrowed her brow playfully, putting on a mock-stern expression.
Kenia looked a little resigned and explained softly, âI just didnât have much of an appetite.â
Belinda shot her a look of mild disapproval. âThatâs no excuse! You canât skip meals, especially while youâre still recovering. If you donât eat well and keep your strength up, how are you going to get better?â
Kenia let out a quiet sigh and nodded. âYouâre right. Iâll do better next time.â
âNo ânext timeâ about it,â Belinda countered firmly. âIâm calling Margie now to whip something up for you. Iâll sit here and make sure you eat it.â
She pulled out her phone as she spoke. Kenia looked a bit reluctant but didnât protest.
Once Margie brought up a tray of food, Belinda stayed by Keniaâs side, keeping watch as she ate. After Kenia finished eating, Belinda finally smiled.
Kenia returned the smile.
They talked for a while longer before Belinda finally left the room.
She didnât bring up Holleyâs visits, partly because she didnât want to bring it up, and partly because mentioning it wouldnât change anything.
The following day, Belinda and Lucas got ready after they woke up and left the house together, each heading to their respective jobs.
Upon reaching his workplace, Lucas summoned Gordon into his office and directed him to arrange for someone to gather samples from Baker and Holley. He then further instructed him to submit their samples, along with Belindaâs, to a new laboratory they hadnât used before, to conduct a new round of DNA tests.
Gordon blinked, caught off guard by the request.
It dawned on him that Lucas might be questioning the reliability of the previous test, explaining the decision to switch testing facilities. And he realized that Lucas was beginning to wonder if Baker was truly Belindaâs biological father.
âUnderstood. Iâll handle it right away,â Gordon replied with a quick nod, keeping his thoughts to himself. Then, he left the office.
