Chapter 1166
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Seeing this, Lucas couldnât help but smile.
He clasped her hand tightly, his voice softening. âI was angry that day, and I acted on impulse. Iâve regretted my actions ever since. But I hope you understand, Belinda. You canât blame me for being jealous of Darwin. Yes, I know that he saved you, so itâs natural for you to visit him, even asking our kitchen staff to prepare nourishing dishes for him. But even so, it doesnât sit well with me! I canât help but feel jealous! Iâm sure you donât even know this, but you once called out his name in your sleep.â
When Lucas thought of that, his expression darkened.
Belinda whipped around in surprise. âWhen did I ever do that?â
Lucas huffed, clearly still upset by the incident. âThe night you were kidnapped!â
Belinda froze.
She had no idea that she had called out Darwinâs name in her sleep.
Belinda inhaled slowly and tried to explain herself. âI was probably still processing the whole ordeal at the time. I must have been dreaming about my abduction, which is why I called out his name.â
Lucas let out a heavy sigh, his lips curling in frustration. âI know! I understand that. But it still made me jealous. Thatâs how it is, I guess. I care about you so much that I easily get jealous.â
Belinda remained silent, but her emotions were already stirring within her.
Before she could respond, Lucas continued. âI also know that asking you to never see Darwin again is unrealistic. That would be highly unreasonable of me. But⦠at least take me with you the next time you visit him. We can go together. You can do that, right?â
Belindaâs face lit up with a gentle smile. âAlright,â she said with a nod. âFrom now on, Iâll bring you along whenever I visit Darwin in the hospital. And if youâre busy, Iâll wait until youâre free so we can go together.â
âThatâs more like it.â Lucas beamed. Just like that, his insecurities were appeased.
After a while, he asked, âSo⦠youâre not mad at me anymore?â Belinda shook her head. âNo, Iâm not mad anymore.â
But then, she suddenly remembered something. âHowever, you need to make sure it doesnât happen again.â
âThere wonât be a next time, I promise!â Lucas declared before drawing closer. âNow, give me a kiss.â
Belinda felt a bit resigned. This childish side of Lucas was both exasperating and amusing at the same time.
She didnât hesitateâshe leaned in and pressed a kiss on Lucasâ cheek. Lucas looked completely satisfied after the kiss.
Belinda got to her feet. âLetâs go. We should pay Darwin a visit while Kenia is still asleep.â
âOkay,â Lucas replied.
And so, they headed to Darwinâs hospital room together.
Darwinâs eyes flashed with delight the moment he saw Belinda walk in.
But they soon dimmed when he noticed Lucas trailing behind her.
âHow are you feeling today?â Belinda asked Darwin.
âPretty good.â Darwin turned his attention to Lucas. âYouâre here as well, Mr. Clark.â
Lucas gave him a faint smile, his tone casual as he replied, âYeah. Belinda and I came to check on you.â
âThank you,â Darwin said.
âIf anyone should be thanking someone,â Lucas said, his voice lowering slightly, âitâs me. I should thank you for saving Belinda.â
The polite smile on Darwinâs face faded slightly. âIt was the right thing to do. Belinda and I are friends, after all.â
Lucas didnât like the familiar way Darwin addressed Belinda, and his expression darkened significantly.
But he took a deep breath and held back his thoughts on the matter.
Belinda and Lucas sat with Darwin and kept him company for some time before taking their leave.
Lucas then went to work, while Belinda returned to Keniaâs hospital room.
That night, at the Bakerâs placeâ¦
