Chapter 1164
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda pressed her lips together momentarily before offering an explanation. âGrandma, itâs simpleâsheâs heartbroken at the thought of leaving you. Think about it: Sarai wonât be able to see you for years. Itâs only natural that sheâd be emotional about it,â she said.
After a slight pause, she added, âAnd as for the job itself, Lucas was the one who introduced her to it. You really donât have to worry.â Belinda had already made up her mindâshe couldnât reveal the truth about Saraiâs situation to Kenia.
Kenia had practically raised Sarai as her own. If she ever learned the real reason for Saraiâs sudden departure, the shock might be too much for her fragile body to bear.
Keniaâs old age only reinforced Belindaâs reluctance to reveal the truth. Belinda decided it was best to keep the truth hidden for now, at least until it became impossible to conceal any longer.
Kenia fell silent, studying Belinda carefully. Though she said nothing, she wasnât convinced she had been given the full story.
It wasnât just SaraiâHolley had been acting strangely the night before as well. Her demeanor had been subdued, her spirits noticeably dampened. And she hadnât uttered a single word about Saraiâs impending move to Soling.
Kenia knew that something must have happened when they had dinner together last night.
But none of them were willing to tell her anything.
Belinda, sensing her grandmotherâs lingering concern, spoke softly. âGrandma, please donât worry. Thereâs truly nothing to be concerned about.â
Kenia didnât reply, but the worry etched on her face remained.
Belinda let out a quiet sigh. She felt powerlessâthis was the best she could do for now.
At a secluded booth in a café, The moment Holley stepped inside, her eyes locked onto the man sprawled comfortably on the sofa. Her expression darkened as she stormed toward him. âLamont, what the hell is this about? We had an agreementâyou took the money and promised to disappear from my life forever! So why do you want to see me again?â
Just half an hour earlier, Holley had been on her way home from the hospital when she received an unexpected call from Lamont. He had insisted they meet, claiming he had something urgent to discuss.
Lamont smirked, entirely unbothered by her fury. He motioned for her to sit down, his tone light. âMs. Lewis, donât get so worked up. Come on, take a seat. You can have some water and cool off.â
Holley approached him and said sharply, âCut the nonsense. Just tell me what you want this time.â
Lamont let out an exaggerated sigh. âHey, no need to be so harsh! Itâs nothing major⦠Itâs just that the five hundred thousand you lent me last time? Well, letâs just say itâs all gone. And now, I canât even afford a decent meal.â
He leaned forward slightly, feigning helplessness. âSo, I had no choice but to come to you again, Ms. Lewis. I was hoping you might be generous enough to lend me a little more.â
When Holley heard this, her expression darkened further.
Holley realized that Lamont was here asking for money again.
Her face contorted with fury as she glared at him. âAre you seriously telling me that in less than ten days, youâve already burned through the five hundred thousand I gave you? What on earth did you do with all that money? And why are you asking me for more? Every time you run out of money, you come running to me. Do you have any idea how much I had to sacrifice to scrape together that money for you last time? I had to swallow my pride and borrow it from many people. And now, not only have you squandered it all, but Iâm completely broke as well!â
