Chapter 116
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Percyâs polite smile widened, warm and gentle. âItâs my pleasure.â And with that, the three of them walked away together.
Belinda didnât glance back at Lucas. She wouldnât give him that satisfaction.
Once Belinda and her companions were gone, Lucasâ brows furrowed, his face clouding with something dark and unreadable.
Inside the elevator, Belinda inhaled deeply, trying to steady her thoughts. As the silence stretched, an idea suddenly struck her. She turned to Percy and Debra with a smile. âOh, I just rememberedâI drove here myself. Thereâs no need for you to send me home now, Mr. Thomas.â
Belinda silently cursed herself for her earlier decision. What had she been thinking, agreeing to Percyâs offer right in front of Lucas? What was the point in that anyway?
Debra said smoothly, âItâs no trouble at all, Belinda. Percy can still drive you home. Weâll have someone bring your car to the hospital later.â
Belinda replied, âNo need for that. I can drive myself back.â With that, she glanced at her watch. âIâm short on time as it is, so Iâll just head back to the hospital on my own now.â
âThanks for the kind offer, though. Bye.â
Before they could respond, she gave a quick wave and walked away, her steps brisk and resolute.
Debra watched Belindaâs retreating figure with a slight frown. Turning to Percy, she asked, âWhat do you make of her?â Percyâs eyes narrowed thoughtfully. âSheâs guarded. Very guarded.â
gⱯlnÏνð®ðsâ¤com is where magic happens Debra nodded, mulling over his words. âThatâs to be expected. Weâre practically strangers. Give it timeâsheâll lower her guard after a few more encounters.â
She paused for a moment and then asked, âDo you think our plan will work?â
Percy tilted his head, his expression unreadable. âYou have no faith in me?â
Debraâs lips quirked into a faint smile. âThatâs not true.â
âGood,â Percy said, his voice laced with quiet confidence. âJust leave it to me.â
Nodding, Debra said nothing more.
Later in the evening, Belinda worked late, returning to the Clark family estate well past eight. As she entered the bedroom, her eyes instinctively went to the desk, where Lucas sat, his presence cold and commanding.
Belinda spared him only a fleeting glance before turning away. âWho was the man you had lunch with today?â Lucasâs cold voice cut through the silence like a blade.
Belindaâs tone was calm, almost detached. âThatâs none of your business.â
Lucasâs expression darkened instantly. âNone of my business? Donât forget, Belindaâweâre still married. To the outside world, youâre my wife.â
Belinda turned to him, her gaze as cold as ice. âAnd does being your wife mean Iâm forbidden from having lunch with other men?â
âOf course!â Lucasâs tone was sharp.
Belinda let out a soft, mocking laugh. âBefore you start dictating what I can or canât do, Mr. Clark, maybe you should take a closer look at your own behavior. Were you thinking about your marital status while dining with Verena?â
Lucas stiffened, momentarily at a loss for words.
