Chapter 1155
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda looked at her, her expression unreadable, and said nothing.
Holley shifted uncomfortably under Belindaâs gaze. âWhatâs the matter? Why are you looking at me like that? Itâs as if you donât even recognize me anymore.â
Before Belinda could respond, Sarai spoke up. âBelinda, Holley has been thinking about you a lot lately. She feels terrible about what happened and believes she failed you as a mother. But youâre her daughter; surely thereâs no grudge between you two that canât be forgiven. Could you let it go and stop holding this against her?â
Belinda lowered her eyes and nodded slightly, a faint, almost mocking smile playing on her lips. âYouâre right. We are mother and daughter, after allâ¦â
Her tone was laced with sarcasm.
Lucas, seated beside her, reached under the table and gently took her hand in his, offering silent support.
Belinda had said just that, offering no indication of whether she had forgiven Holley or not.
Holley, sensing the tension, quickly changed the subject.
For the rest of the meal, the conversation revolved around lighter topics, with Holley and Sarai doing most of the talking.
Just then, the door opened once more, and a waiter entered, carrying several bowls of soup. He placed one in front of each person.
Holley gestured enthusiastically toward the soup. âYou have to try thisâitâs their specialty, and itâs absolutely delicious.â
Belindaâs lips curved into a faint smile. âOh? Is that so? Then Iâll have to give it a proper taste.â She and Lucas each took a sip.
Noticing Lucas had the soup without hesitation, Holley narrowed her eyes, and a sly smile tugged at her lips. âSo? What do you think?â
Belinda gave a small nod. âItâs pretty good.â
Lucas remained silent, his expression unreadable as he took a few more sips.
Holleyâs grin widened. âIâm glad you like it.â
But barely two minutes later, a sharp gasp escaped her lips as she clutched her chest, her face twisting in pain.
âHolley, whatâs wrong?â Sarai quickly asked.
Holleyâs breath came in short, uneven bursts. âI donât know. My chest just started hurting out of nowhere.â
Concern flashed across Saraiâs face. âThen letâs get you to the hospital. Iâll go with you.â
Holley quickly shook her head, forcing a strained smile. âNo, you donât get out much; stay and enjoy your meal.â
Then, she turned to Belinda. âBelinda, would you accompany me to the hospital?â
Holley put on a theatrical display of discomfort and pain, hoping to evoke a reaction. However, Belinda remained utterly unfazed, her expression unreadable.
Holley bit her lip when she noticed Belindaâs silence.
Just as she was about to come up with something else to say, Belinda suddenly said, âAlright, Iâll go with you.â
A flicker of triumph crossed Holleyâs face as she struggled to her feet. âThen⦠Letâs go.â
Before leaving, she turned to Sarai. âSarai, you and Mr. Clark should continue eating. We will be back soon.â
âOkay,â Sarai nodded, though a trace of worry lingered in her eyes.
