Chapter 1149
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

After all, hadnât Lucas made it clear he didnât want her anywhere near Darwin? Well, she would not listen to him!
Hearing Belindaâs words, Lucas felt a fire ignite in his chest.
âBelinda, youââ
Belinda didnât let him finish. âThatâs all. Bye.â
With that, she ended the call without giving him a chance to reply.
Lucas sat there, gripping his phone, seething.
He then shot up from his chair and strode out of his office.
He rushed to Darwinâs ward as quickly as possible.
But as he stepped inside, he realized something was off. Belinda was nowhere in sight. Neither was Darwin.
Only the male caregiver he had arranged to look after Darwin was present.
The man looked startled to see Lucas. âM-Mr. Clark, do you need something?â
Lucasâ gaze sharpened. âWhereâs Darwin?â
The caregiver gestured toward the restroom. âMr. Lambert is in the restroom.â
Lucas narrowed his eyes. âHas Belinda been here today?â
The caregiver shook his head. âNo, Mr. Clark.â
Lucas exhaled slowly. âI see.â With that, he turned on his heel and left.
After exiting Darwinâs ward, Lucas sat down on a bench not far from the door, took out his phone, and called Belinda.
The line barely rang before Belinda answered the call, her tone cold. âWhat is it that you want?â
âAre you actually having lunch with Darwin?â Lucas asked, his tone aggrieved.
âYeah, weâre enjoying a fantastic meal together,â Belinda replied. In reality, she was stretching lazily in the lounge and about to take a nap.
Lucas smirked, though he tried to sound annoyed. âOh yeah? What exactly are you eating?â
He now knew Belinda was doing this on purpose to get under his skin.
âNone of your business!â Belinda huffed, then promptly hung up.
Lucas let out a quiet sigh, feeling a sense of resignation settle over him. Still, he didnât call Belinda again, nor did he linger at the hospital. He soon got up and left.
Later in the afternoon, Lucas headed straight to the Cardiac Surgery Department at the Grand Plains General Hospital to pick up Belinda after her shift.
As Belinda emerged from the lounge, now changed into casual clothes, her eyes quickly landed on Lucas. She said, âIâm not heading home. Iâm going to visit Darââ
Before she could finish speaking, Lucas interjected, âGordon just called. Thereâs been some movement from Sarai.â
Belinda froze for a moment, caught off guard by the news.
Belindaâs gaze locked onto Lucas. âWhat happened to Sarai?â
Lucas exhaled and shook his head. âIâm not sure yet. I told Gordon to explain everything in person, so heâs already on his way to our place.â He then glanced at Belinda, hesitating for a moment.
Belinda clenched her jaw.
She was still upset with Lucas, but Saraiâs situation took priority. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her posture and said, âLetâs go home.â
Lucasâ lips curled slightly in response. âAlright.â
They had just arrived home when Gordon showed up.
