Chapter 1136
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

The others quickly voiced their agreement, their expressions hard with resolve. Before Lucas could say anything further, the doors to the operating room suddenly swung open.
Belinda shot up from the bench and rushed over, her heart pounding. âDoctor, how is he?â she asked, her voice tight with worry.
The doctor quickly said, âThereâs no need to worry. The patient is out of danger. Fortunately, the knife wound wasnât deep and missed all vital organs. The patient also received treatment in time, so his condition is stable now. Heâll be observed in the ICU tonight, and if all goes well, he can be moved to a regular ward by ten oâclock tomorrow morning.â
Belinda felt a huge weight lift from her chest, relieved by the doctorâs update.
âThatâs good to hear. Thank you, doctor,â she said.
âYouâre welcome.â With that, the doctor turned and left.
Lucas took Belindaâs hand. âNow that we know Darwinâs fine, letâs go home, okay?â
âYeah, Belinda, itâs late. You should go home and get some rest,â Bethany said.
âOkay.â Belinda nodded, showing no resistance.
Lucas sighed with relief.
That night, Belinda didnât sleep well at all.
She tossed and turned for hours before finally succumbing to a restless sleep filled with nightmares.
The nightmares were vivid, echoing the terror of her kidnapping.
âNO⦠Let go of meâ¦â In her nightmare, Belindaâs brow furrowed, her forehead damp with cold sweat.
Lucas, waking to her distress, felt his heart ache for her.
He was about to comfort her gently when she cried out again, âYou can leave! Darwin, go!â
At this, Lucasâ expression darkened, and a surge of jealousy overwhelmed him. He was jealous that Darwin could make Belinda call out his name in her sleep. Even though Lucas understood that recent events might naturally make Belinda think of Darwin, leading her to dream about him, it still stung.
His emotions churned with frustration.
He even felt the urge to wake Belinda and demand to know exactly what she had dreamed about Darwin.
After a moment of contemplation, Lucas managed to restrain himself.
He resigned himself to lying back down and pulling Belinda into his arms. Once Belinda was held by Lucas, her sleep seemed to grow more peaceful.
However, Lucas did not sleep well.
The next morning, both Belinda and Lucas had dark circles under their eyes. âAre you going to the hospital to see Darwin later?â Lucas asked Belinda during breakfast.
âYes.â Belinda nodded.
âIâll go with you,â Lucas said.
âArenât you busy in the morning?â Belinda inquired.
âItâs okay. My work can be delayed for a bit,â Lucas responded casually.
âIf youâre busy, you donât need to accompany me,â Belinda said.
âNo way! I have to be there!â Lucas immediately responded, his tone firm.
Belinda was stunned by his reaction.
Realizing his tone might have been too forceful, Lucas quickly added, âWhat I mean is⦠Darwin saved you. As your boyfriend, I should definitely go and thank him.â
