Chapter 1125
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

In the afternoon, Lucas arrived at the Grand Plains General Hospital to pick up Belinda from work. He was half an hour early and decided to visit Kenia in her hospital room to pass the time.
Holley and Sarai were in Keniaâs room with her. However, Lucas paid them no attention.
After a brief conversation with Kenia, he rose to leave as soon as she drifted off to sleep. As he stepped out of the room, a voice suddenly called out from behind him, âMr. Clarkâ¦â
Lucas turned his head. When his eyes landed on Holley, his expression darkened slightly. He remained silent.
Holley wasted no time and spoke up. âMr. Clark, Iâd like to invite you and Belinda to a meal. There have been some misunderstandings between Belinda and me. She hasnât spoken to me in days, and honestly, itâs been weighing on my mind. Iâd really like the chance to clear the air and apologize properly. Could you help arrange it?â
She sounded completely sincere, her tone even carrying a trace of pleading.
Lucas, however, responded with a cold laugh. âHolley, just because I havenât found proof linking you to the hormones in Belindaâs system doesnât mean youâre innocent in the matter.â
His eyes glinted with warning. âIf I uncover anything, you wonât walk away unscathed.â
He then took a step closer, his presence suffocating. âFrom now on, stay away from Belinda. And stop pretending you care about her when all youâre doing is manipulating her!â
Holleyâs face drained of color. Her breath hitched as she looked up at Lucas, disbelief flickering across her face. âMr. Clark, how could you say that? Iâm Belindaâs mother! Do you really think Iâd ever harm my own daughter? Please, you have to believe meâI had nothing to do with what happened to her! Iââ
Lucas had no patience for her pleas. Cutting her off with an icy tone, he said, âYou know the truth better than anyone else. I suggest you take my warning seriously; otherwise, youâll regret it!â
His piercing gaze held hers for a second longer before he turned on his heel and walked away, his departure leaving an oppressive silence in the air.
Holley swallowed hard, not daring to say anything more. Her chest tightened, her heart pounding erratically.
Perhaps Lucas had been too nice in front of Kenia lately, so much so that she had forgottenâforgotten that he was still the same cold, ruthless man. When he chose to unleash that side of himself, the sheer force of it was suffocating.
Just then, the door to Keniaâs hospital room creaked open, and Sarai stepped out.
Holley turned sharply toward her. âYou heard that, didnât you? Thatâs how he treats me now. He wonât even let me near Belinda! Iâm her mother, and yet he refuses to show me even a shred of respect. No matter what I do, he keeps shutting me out. Considering the current situation, I donât see how I can help you.â
She had left the door slightly ajar on purpose, ensuring Sarai overheard the entire exchange.
Sarai, however, remained composed. A small, knowing smile played at her lips as she spoke in a smooth tone. âIâm sure youâll come up with something, Holley. I believe in you.â
Without giving Holley a chance to respond, Sarai turned and disappeared back into the room.
âYouâ¦â Holleyâs teeth clenched as she watched her leave, her expression darkening.
On the way home, Lucas recounted Holleyâs request to Belinda.
Belinda listened in silence before letting out an amused scoff.
