Chapter 1123
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Baker gave a small nod. âYeah, what about her?â
âSheâ¦â Holley trailed off before finally revealing how Sarai had threatened her, detailing exactly what she was after.
As she spoke, Bakerâs expression grew colder, a storm brewing behind his darkened eyes.
Lately, both Baker and Holley had been living under constant threat.
âWe absolutely cannot let Belinda or Mr. Clark find out about this,â Baker said firmly.
Holley bit her lip for a moment before saying, âI know. Thatâs why I had no choice but to give in to Saraiâs demands. But⦠the person Sarai is after is someone our daughter cares about! How can we help her?â
Bakerâs tone remained unwavering. âWhether we like it or not, we have to help her. We donât have a choice. Fortunately, all Sarai wants is a night with Mr. Clarkâsheâs not trying to marry him. An affair is easier to manage. And afterward, Mr. Clark wonât be so angry. Some men donât even see something like this as a big deal.â His attitude was nonchalant.
After a brief pause, Baker turned to Holley. âTomorrow, tell Sarai you accept her terms. Let her know youâll help her when the time comes. But she has to keep quiet about the matter. If even a whisper of this gets out, weâre all finished.â
Holley remained silent, lost in thought.
Deep down, she didnât want Sarai anywhere near Lucas.
In her heart, Lucas belonged to Kylee. But now, Kylee was infected with HIV⦠The chances of her being with Lucas were nearly nonexistent.
G3t th3 l3g1t v3rs10n 0n g4ln0v3ls.c0m Maybe this wasnât such a bad thing, after all. Maybe, if Sarai got involved with Lucas, it would drive a wedge between Lucas and Belinda.
Why should Belinda always get what she wanted? She would ruin Belindaâs relationship with Lucas!
Holleyâs fingers clenched slightly before she finally nodded. âAlright. I understand.â
Baker straightened. âBy the way, I looked into Lamontâs situationâ¦â He laid out everything he had learned.
Holleyâs eyes flickered. âSo, as far as the world knows, Lamont is dead? Mr. Clarkâs people havenât found anything?â
âYeah,â Baker replied.
Holley exhaled, relief washing over her. âThatâs good. As long as Lamont stays out of sight, Mr. Clarkâs people wonât uncover anything.â
But Baker wasnât as relaxed. His eyes narrowed. âLamont mustâve pulled some trick to fake his death. We need to keep him in check. If Mr. Clarkâs people figure out the truth, we will be in trouble. Lamont wants five hundred thousandâ weâll give it to him. But make it clear this is the last time. Tell him to stay away from us after this.â
Holley hesitated. âYou and I both know he wonât just walk away that easily.â
Baker tapped his fingers against the table, considering the situation. âLetâs just do this for now. If this doesnât work, Iâll come up with another plan.â
Holley nodded. âAlright.â
The next day.
At the Cardiac Surgery Department of the Grand Plains General Hospital, Belinda had just finished her rounds and returned to her office for some water.
A doctor approached her. âDr. Wright, Kylee is outside. She says she needs to talk to you.â
At the mention of Kyleeâs name, Belindaâs expression darkened.
