Chapter 1075
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Caiden felt terrible hearing Belindaâs words.
She was such a skilled surgeon, but nowâ¦
Belinda sniffled slightly and said, âSo, youâll need to schedule a time to announce that I wonât be working here anymore.â
âThereâs no rush,â Caiden replied. âYou can take your time considering this matter.â
Belinda fell silent.
Caiden looked at her, his lips parting several times as if struggling to find the right words.
Noticing his hesitation, Belinda asked, her voice tinged with suspicion, âWhatâs wrong? Is there something else?â
Caiden nodded. âThereâs one more thing I need to talk to you about.â
âWhat is it?â Belinda asked.
Caiden paused for a moment before responding, âDo you remember what Mr. Clark said when he came to the hospital to pick you up after the incident?â
Belinda froze, her expression becoming unreadable. After a moment, she recalled the conversation and said, âYou mean⦠his threat to take action against the hospital?â
âYes,â Caiden sighed, clearly resigned. âNow that youâve been diagnosed, Mr. Clark surely wonât let the hospital off easily. Belinda, after giving it much thought, I must ask for your help. Youâre the only one who can persuade Mr. Clark. Could you please convince him to be lenient with us and spare the hospital this time?â
Upon hearing Caidenâs words, Belinda didnât hesitate for a second before responding firmly, âI understand. Iâll talk to Lucas about this.â
Only then did Caiden release a quiet sigh of relief, his tense shoulders easing slightly.

However, the moment the words left her lips, Lucasâ expression darkened, his brows knitting together in displeasure.
Sensing his immediate resistance, Belinda spoke gently but with conviction. âLucas, this truly isnât the hospitalâs fault. I am a doctor, and this job comes with inherent risks. Occupational exposure happens to many doctors, not just to me.â
After a pause, she continued, âIn that situation, my colleagues and I did exactly what we were trained to do. The patientâs heart had ruptured, and he was suffering from cardiac tamponade. There was no time to waste. If we had hesitated for even a second, he wouldnât have survived.â
Belinda pressed her lips together for a moment. âFor doctors, the well-being of a patient always takes precedence over protocol. And truthfully, I was at fault for not ensuring my protective glasses were properly in place⦠So please, donât hold the hospital accountable for this, okay?â
Lucas remained silent, his jaw tightening as his thoughts warred within him.
When Belinda saw his continued resistance, her patience wore thin. She crossed her arms and shot him a pointed look. âLucas! Are you seriously going to defy me?â
At her sharp tone, Lucas exhaled heavily, surrendering to her insistence. He turned to her, his gaze softening, and reached for her hand. âAlright, alright. I will listen to you. I wonât pursue any action against the Grand Plains General Hospital. You have my word.â
A satisfied smile bloomed across Belindaâs lips. âThatâs more like it!â she said, reaching out playfully to ruffle his hair.
Lucas swiftly caught her hand, his grip firm yet tender. He then brought her fingers to his lips, pressing a kiss against her skin.
