Chapter 1066
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Fear had taken hold of her, paralyzing her completely.
Despite the bright sun overhead, the world around her seemed dull and lifeless.
Then, suddenly, Belinda felt strong arms encircle her from behind.
Lucas held her tightly, his chin resting gently on her head. His voice, deep and soothing, broke through her despair. âLetâs go home, okay?â
The warmth of Lucasâ embrace and the tenderness in his voice shattered the dam holding back Belindaâs emotions.
She turned in his arms, burying her face in his chest, clutching him tightly as she broke into uncontrollable sobs.
Her cries were raw and heart-wrenching, each one tearing at Lucasâ heart.
He held her tighter, his own eyes growing red with emotion.
After what felt like an eternity, Belinda finally pulled back from Lucasâ embrace. Her lips trembled as she muttered, âIâve dragged you into thisâ¦â
Now that she had been diagnosed with HIV, the likelihood of Lucas being affected was alarmingly high.
The thought of him possibly facing the same fate was unbearable.
Lucas gently wiped her tears away with his thumb. âDonât say that. You didnât drag me into this; I walked into this willingly. I told you that no matter what happens, Iâm here with you. Weâll face everything together. Donât be afraid.â
Belindaâs nose tingled with emotion as she looked at Lucas through tear-filled eyes, unable to put her feelings into words.
Eventually, she nodded heavily, her voice choked with tears. âOkay.â
âLetâs go home,â Lucas said softly, taking her hand. âStanding here with you for so long has made my feet ache.â
Belinda couldnât help but laugh through her tears.
Once they returned home, Belinda showered and collapsed onto the bed. She hadnât slept all night yesterday, and her eyes burned with exhaustion.
Lucas lay down beside her, pulling her close as they both tried to rest.
But despite their fatigue, sleep eluded them.
Their minds were too restless, too consumed by the weight of everything that had happened.
Yet, nestled in Lucasâ arms, Belinda felt a sense of comfort and safety.
In a house elsewhere, the living room was in complete disarray. Every object in the room had been smashed to pieces.
âDamn it! That bitch Belinda! I swear, Iâll kill her!â Holley was in a frenzy, her rage spiraling out of control as she hurled objects across the room.
She had just discovered the horrifying truthâBelinda was infected with AIDS.
But she couldnât be happy about it at all.
The news only deepened her despair. That fateful night, Belinda had clawed at her face, drawing blood.
Now, with Belindaâs diagnosis confirmed, she faced the terrifying possibility of infection herself.
The mere thought of it filled her with such rage that she wanted to grab a knife and end Belindaâs life right then.
Bakerâs voice cut through the chaos. âStop this! What good does breaking things do now? I warned you before, didnât I? I told you to think before you act, but you never listened!â
His words struck a nerve, and Holley crumbled under their weight. She sank to the floor, tears streaming down her face as she wailed, âHow was I supposed to know this would happen? I only wanted to protect our daughter! What did I do wrong? This is all Belindaâs fault, every bit of it!â
