Chapter 1031
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda blinked in surprise. The term felt foreign to her, like a word from a distant land. She had never been in a relationship before.
Lucas gently placed his hands on Belindaâs shoulders, turning her to face him. Gazing deeply into her eyes with unwavering conviction, he stated, âFrom this moment onward, Iâm your boyfriend!â
The seriousness etched on Lucasâ face made Belindaâs heart flutter. She smiled playfully, teasing him with a hint of mischief in her voice. âLucas, I already told youâI no longer love you. So⦠why would I want you to be my boyfriend?â
Unfazed by her words, Lucas stared at her with an intensity that seemed to pierce through her defenses. âI know you canât stop thinking about me,â he replied confidently. âYou love me.â
A bright and steadfast light flickered in his deep-set eyes as he continued, âYou were only saying those hurtful words because you were scared of burdening me.â
Leaning closer, he closed the distance between them; his forehead brushed against hers, sending shivers down Belindaâs spine as his warm breath caressed her face. His voice dropped low and enticing. âBut the truth is, when you uttered those words, it pained you too, didnât it?â
Belinda wanted to cry when she heard that.
She remained silent for a moment before diving into Lucasâ arms, wrapping him tightly in an embrace that spoke volumes of the emotions swirling inside her.
Lucas enveloped her in his arms, holding her close and pressing a gentle kiss to the crown of her head. His heart swelled with profound contentment in that moment.
They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, until eventually, Belinda asked Lucas to leave.
Before he did, the expression on his face was one of reluctance, but Belinda chose to disregard it.
The next day, Johnson and Bethany arrived at Belindaâs home to visit her.
Belinda straightened her posture, took a steady breath, and met Johnsonâs and Bethanyâs gazes. âThereâs something I need to tell you⦠Lucas and I⦠Weâre back together.â
Johnson and Bethany exchanged glances, their brows arched in surprise.
âWhen did this happen?â Bethany asked.
âYesterday,â Belinda replied.
Johnson asked, âWhat exactly happened yesterday? What did Lucas do?â
Belinda pouted. âWhy does it have to be about what Lucas did? Canât it just be that I finally came around?â
Johnson shot her a skeptical look. âYou? If it were that easy, you wouldnât have put yourselfâand Lucasâthrough all that turmoil.â
Letting out a small sigh, Belinda offered a resigned smile before recounting everything that had transpired the day before.
By the time she finished, both Johnson and Bethany were sitting in stunned silence, their mouths slightly open in disbelief.
Belinda waved a hand in front of them. âHello? Some kind of reaction would be nice.â
Bethany was the first to find her voice. âWow⦠I never thought Lucas would go to such lengths for you!â
