Chapter 1027
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda let out a short, humorless laugh. âIf deceiving yourself makes you feel better, then by all means, keep doing it. But Iâm done with you. Now, leave.â
Lucas, however, didnât move. Instead, he smiled.
There was something unsettling about that smile.
Belinda had a feeling something unexpected was about to happen.
Before she could process it further, Lucas reached for her, cupping her face in his hands. Then, without warning, he leaned in and kissed her.
Belinda froze in shock.
Her mind went blank.
She immediately pushed against him, trying to force him away.
But then, a sharp pain shot through her lips.
A metallic taste filled her mouthâblood.
Panic surged through Belinda.
With all the strength she could muster, she shoved Lucas away.
This time, Lucas didnât resist. He let her push him back.
âLucas, have you lost your mind?â Belindaâs voice rang out, raw with emotion.
She turned toward the table, grabbing a tissue with trembling hands. Rushing back, she pressed it to Lucasâ lips, desperately trying to wipe away the blood.
âSpit it out! Right now!â Her voice cracked, her entire body shaking.
Lucas remained composed. âItâs too late,â he said.
Belindaâs breath hitched, her heart pounding violently against her ribs.
âWhy? Why would you do this? Youâre crazy!â
Tears streamed down her face, uncontrollable, unstoppable.
She had never expected Lucas to do this.
How could he do this?
Lucas reached out again, cupping her face gently and pressing his forehead against hers. His voice was hoarse, filled with desperation. âBelinda, now do you believe me? Will you stop pushing me away?â
Hearing his words, Belinda felt as though her heart was being torn apart.
Without responding, she turned sharply, rushing back to the table. Her hands trembled as she yanked open the medicine box, her fingers fumbling as she grabbed the pills. Pouring a glass of water, she spun back toward him.
âTake the medicine. Now,â she commanded, her voice shaking.
Lucas didnât react.
âLucas, take the medicine!â Belindaâs voice rose in urgency, her frustration clear.
Lucas fixed his gaze on Belinda, his expression resolute. âAnswer me!â he demanded, his voice thick with stubborn determination.
A brief silence followed before he added, âIf you donât, I wonât take the medicine.â
Belindaâs hands trembled as she clenched them into fists, her bloodshot eyes locking onto his. Her voice faltered, breaking with emotion. âLucas⦠Do you even realize whatâs happened? The blood from the AIDS patient might have gotten into my eyes. If thatâs the case, my chances of infection are incredibly high! Please, stop being so stubborn. Just take the medicine first!â
