Chapter 1024
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âOne was caught cheating at a casino,â Gordon explained. âDuring the process of punishing him, the staff accidentally beat him to death. The other overdosed on drugs, became disoriented, and ran into traffic where he was struck by a car and died, despite the hospitalâs efforts to save him. Our investigations suggest these were just accidents, but the circumstances seem too coincidental.â
Lucasâs gaze sharpened, a cold glint in his dark eyes.
âWhen did they die?â he asked.
âThe 12th and the 22nd of last month,â Gordon responded.
A silence fell before Lucas commanded in a deep, husky tone, âInvestigate this! Look into every detail. Leave nothing unchecked.â
âYes.â Gordon quickly turned and left.
Once alone, Lucas stood, fueled by a new purpose.
He believed now he had a reason to see Belinda.
This was something she needed to know.
However, his hopes were dashed at the gates of Belindaâs house.
The maid, speaking through the video intercom, was firm in her stance. âMr. Clark, please, Miss Wright instructed me not to open the door for you regardless of what you say. Please donât make things difficult for us.â
Lucas inhaled deeply and said in a low voice, âTell her itâs important.â
The maid answered, âMiss Wright said, no matter how important it is, she doesnât want to hear it.â
Lucas fell silent.
His expression turned cold and faintly pale.
He hadnât expected Belinda to be this resolute.
She didnât even want to see him now.
Just as Lucas was about to force the door open, it opened from the inside.
When Lucas saw the person emerging from the house, his brow twitched. He stepped forward and greeted, âMrs. Thomas.â
Mollie looked at Lucas and said sharply, âLucas, donât come here again!
Belinda wonât see you.â
âSorry, but thatâs not going to happen,â Lucas replied firmly.
His stance was unwavering.
Mollie said, âNo matter how many times you come, the result will be the same! You are being stubborn.â
Lucasâ voice remained firm. âNo matter what happens, I wonât leave Belinda. So, donât try to persuade me anymore.â
Mollie sneered, âYour family might not think the same.â
Lucasâ eyes flickered. âMy family? What do you mean?â
Realizing her slip, Mollie backtracked. âItâs nothing. Just a casual remark.â
Lucas asked, his voice low and serious, âDid my parents say something to Belinda?â
âI didnât say that.â Even though Mollie said that, the expression on her face revealed everything.
