Chapter 1015
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belindaâs breathing quickened, her chest rising and falling with visible frustration. Her voice rose. âLucas! Canât you see youâre pestering me? Must you really do this?â
Without a momentâs hesitation, Lucas replied, his voice resolute, âYes. I must do this. I wonât let you go.â
Hearing this, Belinda nodded, her eyes flashing with defiance. âFine!â she said, her voice laced with exhaustion. She pushed herself up from the sofa and strode toward the walk-in wardrobe.
Lucas narrowed his eyes. Within moments, he followed her inside, only to find her pulling a suitcase down from the top shelf and tossing it onto the floor. Then, she began to pack her clothes.
Lucas stepped forward and seized her wrist firmly to stop her. âBelinda, what are you doing?â he asked.
Belinda met his gaze with cool detachment, though her heart ached beneath her calm facade. Her words were calm. âSince you refuse to leave, I will.â
âWhere are you going?â Lucas asked.
âAnywhere. As long as itâs away from you,â Belinda shot back, her voice steady.
Lucas felt as though her words had driven a dagger straight into his heart.
The pain was sharp and all-consuming.
His voice cracked, the strain in it evident. âBelinda⦠Do you truly have to go to such lengths?â
Belindaâs fingers curled into a fist by her side.
She told herself she couldnât soften her stance now.
Belindaâs eyes bore into Lucasâ. âLucas, Iâll ask one last time. Will you leave, or shall I?â
Lucasâ grip faltered, his hand trembling as he slowly released her wrist. He said in a pleading tone, âTell me⦠What should I do to make you believe that I truly love you? That I would give up everything for you?â His plea was like a heavy blow to Belindaâs chest.
Her vision blurred as tears welled up, threatening to spill.
But she couldnât afford to waver.
She quickly lowered her gaze, letting her thick lashes veil her vulnerability.
Belindaâs voice was hoarse as she spoke. âLucas, Iâve told youâwe have no future together. Donât waste your time on me. Itâs futile.â
âButâ¦â Lucas started, his voice cracking with emotion.
But before he could continue, Belinda interjected, âEnough. Thereâs nothing more to discuss. You need to leave. Now.â
Defeated, Lucas knew pressing further would only push Belinda away completely.
He released a shaky breath and slowly walked away.
Reaching the door, he paused, his voice thick with emotion. âBelinda⦠Iâll give you time. Time to calm down. But know thisâI will never give up on you. Never.â
With those parting words, he left.
The sound of the door clicking shut echoed through the room.
Belindaâs strength finally gave out. Her knees nearly buckled.
