Chapter 1000
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius
Jennifer finally understood what Lucas meant.
Her face turned deathly pale.
She shook her head at Sanford, and tears of desperation filled her eyes. âDad, no, please donât do this!â
Sanford gave no reply; his expression matched the gravity of the moment.
Should he protect the company or his daughterâs well-being?
Lucas was making him choose. He was really cruel!
âMr. Clark, I beg you!â Sanfordâs plea echoed again in the tense silence.
âMr. Gordon, my time is valuable, and my patience is wearing thin,â Lucas stated, his tone brimming with impatience.
A look of defeat washed over Sanford; turmoil wracked his heart.
He really didnât know how to make this difficult decision.
Lucas didnât give him much time to think. âIâll give you three seconds. Three, two, oneâ¦â
âChoose the company!â Sanfordâs decision burst forth almost simultaneously with Lucasâ countdown.
âDad?â Jennifer stared at him, disbelief coloring her features.
She was aghast at her fatherâs choice to prioritize the company over her. Sanfordâs glare was icy. âYou spoke out of turn, and you should face your consequences!â
Jenniferâs response was silence, her complexion pale. She rose from the ground, intent on escaping.
However, prolonged kneeling had weakened her legs, causing her to collapse with a thud as soon as she stood.
Lucas made a gesture. Immediately, two bodyguards in black suits appeared.
They hastened to Jennifer and held her firmly in place.
âMr. Gordon, go ahead,â Lucas said.
Sanford couldnât back down now.
Trembling, he retrieved the scissors from the ground and faced Jennifer.
âNo, Dad, no⦠Please! Donât do this! Iâm your daughter!â Jenniferâs pleas were frantic as she shook her head in despair.
Despite her struggles, the bodyguardsâ grip was unyielding.
Sanford gripped Jenniferâs tongue, and without a secondâs hesitation, he raised the scissorsâ
âAhââ A scream of agony shattered the silence.
Blood splattered across Sanfordâs face.
His hands shook as he let the scissors fall, closing his eyes.
After a heavy silence, he turned slowly to Lucas. âMr. Clark, is this enough?â
Lucasâ voice was chilling. âFrom now on, I donât want to see her in Owathe again.â
âI understand.â Sanford nodded repeatedly, his face ghostly pale.
âLeave,â Lucas commanded, then turned to return to his estate. After a while, as he drove away from the garage, the father and daughter were already gone.
Lucas drove toward Belindaâs house.
