Chapter 23

Ellie's POV

After having the best, most grown up mature heart to heart with Kai all night, literally the birds were singing once we were finished. We took a nap. And by nap I mean 5 hours sleep. A miracle must have happened for us to have slept so long uninterrupted. I look over to where Freya lays staring up at her soft pink animal mobile that's spinning slowing playing some tune. If I had known that it would've kept her occupied and quiet I'd have bought it sooner.

Turning to my side I realise that Kai is gone and judging by how cold the area where he lays is he's been gone for a while. Turns out I'm the only one who slept for 5 hours. I sit up with a stretch, moaning at how good it feels after such a well deserved rest.

"Hi my baby" I say in a baby voice whilst bending down to pick up my daughter. My daughter, I still can't believe it. Tears start swelling up in my eyes. "Your just the cutest aren't you"

"Freya, you have no idea how much you've changed my life" I whisper as I kiss her on the forehead "mummy is going to love you forever and ever"

After I got Freya changed out of her dirty diaper and got her washed and ready in clean clothes for the day, I lay her back down in her cot before heading over to the en suite and quickly throwing water over my face, brush my teeth and braid my hair before going to pick out what I'm eating. I just grab a pair of black leggings and a white oversized hoodie, before picking Freya back up and heading to the door.

As soon as I open the door I see red and pink rose petals laying on the floor. They trail across the hallway and I follow them all the way to the stairs. When I look down the stairs Kai is standing surrounded by candles in the shape of a heart. There's huge light up red letter lights behind him that spell  MARRY ME?

Tears threaten to fall and my heart does summersaults in my chest. This is the cutest most romantic thing I've ever experienced in my life.  I almost can't believe my eyes. Kai looks up at me and smiles, I make my way down the stairs in awe. Only then do I realise that all my new friends who've become family to me are standing watching. Rachel, Ollie, Lucas, Oscar, Marcus and Savannah.

Kai drops to one knee as soon as I am standing in front of him. And just like last night he asks me to marry him, pulling open the ring box is the most beautiful ring I've ever saw. A sliver band with little diamonds sparkling making it look like it was made for a princess. Rachel must have told him I don't like big flashy rings with huge diamonds on top.

"Yes, yes yes" I laugh whilst tears steam down my face. Rachel takes Freya from my arms and I launch myself into Kai's arms. We clutch onto one another like our life depends on it and then pull back so he can slip the ring on my finger. As soon as it's on everyone starts cheering. Me and Kai kiss one another and it's as if everyone just fades away. This

is literally like a fairytale I think to myself.. one of those dark fairytales where the girl falls for the villain. God when did I become such a cliche?

All I know is I'm okay being the cliche if it makes me feel like alive, this loved this much joy. I have the perfect life people dream off. I have a fiancé who I love and who would do anything and everything to protect me and our precious little daughter who I get to watch grow up and have a happy and safe life while her dad spoils her rotten. I can just picture it...

3 years later

Freya is running around the living room screaming with laughter as her dad chases her to change her nappy for bed. Meanwhile I'm cuddled up on the sofa with the two latest members of our family. Noah  my 6 months old son, who is currently sleeping on my chest and Bonnie, our gorgeous golden Labrador that Kai bought me as a wedding gift.

Every time I look at Bonnie I think about our wedding. Everything was perfect, the cake, the decor, the setting, the guests, Freya was wearing the cutest little flower girl dress and Rachel's son made the perfect ring boy. It was such a good day and everyone who has become a family to me since netting Kai was there to celebrate. There was no 'business' that day as Kai told everyone that it wasn't about work it was about me.

During the after party when I was walking back to the changing room to get outta my over the top white princess ball gown like dress and into someone a bit more comfortable.

I tripped over a box when I walked into the room and when I switched the light on the room was not how I left it. There was paper ripped up all over the room and one of the couch cushions was all chewed up and feathers were floating around everywhere.  I was so stunned at the mess that I didn't have time to process when a puppy jumped up on me, I stumbled back and tripped over my dress causing me to fall back. Next thing I know a warm and wet sensation spread across my face as the cutest puppy was licking all over my mouth and nose. I squealed in panic as I lay there on the floor not knowing where this dog came from. At hearing the noise she jumped off me and the door burst open and Kai came running in. "What the hell happened, oh no,  Bonnie!" He snapped and the dog looked up at him wagging her tail.

"Whose dog is this, why is she in my dresser room and how do you know her name?" I asked as I stood to my feet and smothered down my dress. Good thing it wasn't a rental as it now has a small tear in it from the claws and a few mucky smudges. Tears gathered in my eye at seeing my beautiful dress ruined but I didn't let them fall, knowing that I had all my pictures and memories and that it's just a dress. Plus it was easily fixed with a few stitches and a damp cloth.

"This is Bonnie, she's a golden Labrador, the store owner said she's 6 weeks old. I'm so sorry babe I didn't realise you were coming up so soon, I wanted to surprise you as I know how much you've wanted a dog. We can take her back if you want I'm so sorry about the dress I'm sure we can get it fixed up"

"No no it's fine Omg Kai I can't believe you bought me a puppy! She's so cute but she'll definitely need to be trained look at the mess she's made" Crouching down I beckoned Bonnie over who gladly ran into my welcoming arms and was licking my hands as I stroked her. I laughed at how cute and energetic she was. "She's honestly the cutest thank you so much!" I said stranding up and throwing myself in Kai's arms. He held me for a moment and we just stared smiling at each other.

"I don't know how I got so lucky" he says "You've turned me soft El, I never thought I'd see the day where I got married to a beautiful woman inside and out, who I cared so deeply about, who I loved with everything in me. I always knew I liked you, I had this pit feeling for the longest time since we met and I know we had a rocky start, to put it lightly, but I promise I'll spend the rest of our life making it up to you because you and Freya are my everything. You both come first no matter what"

Not knowing what to say because nothing I say will account to that I smashed my lips against his and pushed him back until the bag of his legs hit against the chaise lounge. He sat down and tried to bring my down with him but my puffy dress proved it difficult. I laughed as it puffed over his thigh. "Let's get this off you, because as much as I love seeing you in this dress and as beautiful as you are in it. I've thought about taking it off you all day"  he says as he reaches around and unzips the back of my dress, he helps me pull the dress off before grabbing me back down on top of him.

That was the day Noah was conceived. I smile at the memory. Every time I look at Bonnie I think of that time in the dressing room. She's definitely much better behaved now. Kai took the time to train her, he was surprisingly good at it, very patient and calm. He surprises me all the time with how different he is to how I first met him and at the beginning of our relationship. While the possessiveness is still there it's mixed with love and affection rather than just dominance.

We have come a long way. We hardly ever fight nowadays and if we do we discuss it afterwards and sort it out like adults and happily married husband and wife should. At work Kai is the big dangerous Mafia hotshot but at home he's completely different. When it comes to me and the kids he's caring and patient and he's such a good dad. It's like a switch goes off inside of him when he comes home and it's almost like two different people now. He says he doesn't want to lose me and he knows that if he messes up one time or drags my kids anywhere near his business he will lose me for good. He maybe won't let me leave but he'll not have my heart.

Because one thing a momma bear doesn't mess with is her kids.

Guys I'm sorry about the long wait. I'm sorry about the rushed ending but I promised you all I would finish the book and I had to keep that promise before I deleted the app!

I hope you enjoyed the ending, they got a nice happily ever after which I think they both deserve after all the fighting they done over the years they overcame it for their family!

Thanks so much for the love and support.  Unfortunately I've grown out of Wattpad now and i don't think I'll be writing or reading anymore on here. But I wanted to keep my promise because I know how annoying it is when you like a book and the author vanishes.
