Chapter Two
Photographing Love (BxB) (Unedited)
Nova doesn't think he's ever heard so many people scream in his life.
It was the first official day of his job. And they were currently walking into the hotel they would be staying at for a few days in California. There was a carpet laid out for Julian and there were girls surrounding it, held back by ropes and also buff body guards.
Nova had his camera hanging around his neck so he could quickly take pictures without having to get it out of its case. He felt weird just walking in without a suitcase but Mark had told him they had people taking care of his luggage for him.
He walked with his hands fidgeting slightly at his sides, not being use to so many people surrounding him, but with the feeling of his camera bouncing against his chest it made him feel a bit better. He looked up from the ground to see Julian stopping and talking to a few fans.
So he quickly pulled up his camera and took a picture of Julian as he was signing something for a fan.
Julian looked up when he saw a flash out the corner of his eye, seeing just as Nova pulled his camera away from his face. Nova gave him a small shy smile, and a little wave that made his heart flutter from how cute that was.
Julian quickly went back to signing things for fans until Mark came and dragged him away.
When they got in Nova looked around in awe at how lavish the hotel was. He wasn't poor, he had a small, moderately nice apartment. But this was still an amazing sight for him to see. I'm staying here?
Julian didn't really think anything of it, having stayed in hotels like this all the time, but when he saw the way Nova reacted it kind of made him realize how lucky he is to live this way. He never could've been signed and could've just stayed singing in his school talent shows.
"So," Mark said as everyone got in a little circle around him. "Room assignments." He handed Julian a room key and Nova one. "You two share a room together."
"Why?," Julian said automatically. He didn't mean for it to come out as rude but with the way he was already feeling this would not end well if they shared a room together.
"Well since he's supposed to get behind the scene shots, it would probably be beneficial to his job to stay in the same room as you."
Nova shrugged his shoulders not seeing a problem with it, although he did feel a little hurt at Julian's initial reaction. "I don't mind sharing a room."
"There's only one bed," Julian said defensively.
"I can sleep on the couch," he countered giving Julian a weird look. What was his problem?
Mark cleared his throat and said, "anyways." He started to go on about how Julian had an interview and performance tonight on a talk show.
Nova didn't really think it affected him so he just continued to look around the hotel, until his eyes finally landed on Julian. He could see why girls swooned over him. He had nice dark blue eyes, that reminded Nova of the ocean. His hair was a brownish-red and in the style of a coif, and he had light sun-kissed skin.
He was staring at Julian for so long that he didn't realize everyone else had left but them.
Julian raised and eyebrow tilting his head, "what?" "Is something on my face?"
Nova cleared his throat shaking his head quickly, "nothing, lets go to the room." He walked past Julian, his shoulder brushing against his as he walked to the elevator.
Nova pressed button and waited for the elevator to come, his fingers twitching slightly as he let his hands hang at his sides.
As Julian walked up he noticed and asked, "why do you do that?"
Nova knew what he meant so he quickly shoved his hands in his pockets before answering. "It's a nervous tic."
The elevator opened and they both walked in, Julian hitting the button for the tenth floor before turning back Nova. "Do you have anxiety problems or something?"
Nova didn't really wanna talk about it. Yes he did have anxiety problems, but he took medication for it, that helped him immensely. Although he still couldn't help his nervous tic. "I don't really see why that's any of your business."
Julian knew he was lying but didn't wanna call him out on it, since they were going to be sleeping in the same room he probably should try to stay on his good side. He held up his hands and said, "I was just asking, no need to get snappy about it."
Nova rolled his eyes and just stared at the number as it rose up towards their floor. Not wanting to talk about anything involving himself. He really hated talking about himself, it made him feel weird, like he was bragging almost about who he was.
Julian sighed shaking his head and said, "look, I just wanted to get to know you better since we're rooming together from now on while i'm on tour."
When the doors open he quickly walked out of the elevator and took his room key out of his pocket seeing if it had their room number on it. When it didn't he turned to Julian who was standing right behind him with his arms crossed over his chest.
Nova jumped putting a hand to his chest, "could you not do that?"
Julian gave him a playful smirk, "what?" "I was just following you to our room." When Nova just stood there he let out a laugh and said, "you don't know which room we're in do you?"
Nova pushed him lightly trying to keep himself from smiling, "shut up, I wasn't listening okay?"
"You did seem to be in your own little world. Come on, were this way."
Following him he said, "you were watching me?"
Julian stiffened a little bit as he stopped in front of what Nova assumed was their room. "No, I just happened to glance at you once to see you not paying attention." He took out his own room key and slid it in the door, waiting for the little light to turn green to unlock it.
Once it did he opened the door and walked in, Nova walking in behind him.
Nova let the door shut behind him and his mouth dropped wide open.
This was probably the most amazing hotel room he's ever seen. It had a small kitchen that included a full sized fridge and a small stove. When he looked to the living room it had a medium sized love seat that looked insanely comfortable.
The wall facing the couch had a flat screen mounted on it, and there were doors on another wall that lead out to a small balcony.
Julian loved rooms with balconies so the first thing he did was go over and open the doors to it, walking outside. He leaned against the balcony, holding onto it with his hands lightly.
Nova, who had finally took in all of the room looked over to see him outside. He quickly lifted his camera, and turned off the flash so Julian wouldn't notice, and quietly walked to the balcony doors and took a picture. He took his camera away to look at the picture and smiled happily at his work.
Photography was something Nova always loved. Even when he was little he would always do everything he could to get his hands on a camera. Each year for his birthday he would ask for a new camera. So he's had a lot of practice over the years and had even got to go to college early for some of his pictures. Which is why he graduated when he was only nineteen years old.
Julian had turned around by now and saw Nova just looking at his camera and smiling softly. It made him feel a warmth in his chest for some reason, as if the sight of the boy looking happy made him happy.
"You seem to love that camera a lot."
Nova blinked and looked up to see Julian watching him and a blush rose to his cheeks from embarrassment. "I do, it's like my baby."
Julian couldn't help but let a smile come over his face at the sight of Nova's red cheeks. Cute. "How long have you had that camera?"
Nova thought for a minute and said, "only a few years." "So it's pretty new."
Julian nodded and walked over to the couch, plopping down onto it, gesturing for Nova to come sit with him.
Nova slowly walked over and sat down, not to close to him though. He didn't want to make things awkward.
"So is this your first big job?," Julian asked tilting his head questioningly.
Nova nodded, "yeah, I've only had some little jobs, this is my first major one." "It's a little overwhelming," he said while letting out a nervous laugh.
Julian chuckled shaking his head. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it." "I was the same when I first started out."
"Did you know you always wanted to do music?," Nova asked.
He nodded his head smiling widely, "yep." "Just like your camera has been your baby, my guitar has been mine," Julian said pointing at where the crew had put his guitar, leaning against the wall outside the bedroom.
"Were you ever nervous during a performance?"
"Of course, sometimes I just wanna throw up from nerves," Julian said chuckling softly. "But having ear plugs in makes it a little easier because I can't hear all the screaming."
Nova let out a little giggle before saying, "I bet having all those girls screaming for you is soo much fun."
Julian rolled his eyes saying with amusement, "yeah it's the best."
"You have a girlfriend though right?," Nova asked. He kind of wanted to figure out why Julian seemed so upset about going out with her.
Julian let out a heavy sigh leaning back into the couch, "yeah I do." "Her names Layla."
"Do you not like her or something? You seem not to happy to hang around with her."
"No, no, Layla is amazing, it's just," Julian trailed off. He didn't know if he should tell someone he literally just met about what was really going on. He decided against it, "it's just that I hate how I have to be so public with the relationship."
Nova nodded his head. He had a feeling Julian was lying, but didn't want to push things on the subject. "I understand that, I wouldn't want to let everyone in the world know who I was with either."
"Do you have a girlfriend?," Julian asked, wanting to change the subject from him.
He rubbed the back of his neck while letting out a small chuckle. "Uh no, I'm gay, and no I don't have a boyfriend either."
Julian was stunned for a minute, he really didn't suspect that Nova was gay. And he seemed so nonchalant about it. "Oh, I'm sorry for assuming," he said smiling slightly.
Nova waved his hand to dismiss him, he got assumed as straight all the time, so it didn't really bother him. "No it's fine really, I just hope it doesn't bother you." He knew some people were freaked out to share a room with someone they knew was attracted to their gender. For some reason it made people automatically assume that the person would flirt with them.
Nova never really understood this.
Julian said quickly, "No!" "No, of course it doesn't bother me." "I don't see why it should?"
Nova shrugged his shoulders softly saying, "some people assume I'll flirt with them if they find out i'm attracted to their gender, which I don't understand." He wasn't really good at flirting anyways, it always came out as a jumbled mess, and he ended up wanting to crawl into a hole and never come out.
Julian nodded his head, "well I promise you I don't think that way." He cleared his throat, once again changing the subject. "So, you're gonna go to the interview with me tonight, you know that right?"
Nova bit on his bottom lip nodding his head. He assumed he would be since he was supposed to capture every moment of Julian. "Yeah, I figured I would be."
He looked at Nova with a bit of concern in his eyes. "Will you be okay being in a crowd of screaming people?" Now that Julian knew about his anxiety he kind of felt scared for him. He didn't want Nova to be overwhelmed by all the screaming and possibly have a panic attack or something.
Nova knew he wouldn't be, but this was a once in a lifetime job opportunity, he would not pass this up just because of his anxiety. "I'll be fine, don't worry about me," he said giving Julian a warm smile.
Julian found himself unconsciously staring at Nova's lips, loving the way he smiled. He snapped out of looking at them when he saw Nova's cheeks go red. Julian cleared his throat looking away for a second to hide his own blush, before turning back to him.
"I can get you some earplugs like I wear. That way you can't hear the screams." "Maybe that'll help you keep calm."
Nova slowly started to smile and said softly, "thank you, that's actually really nice."
Julian smiled back at him, "don't thank me." He bumped his shoulder against Nova's gently, saying playfully, "wouldn't want you to freak out on your first day."
Nova started to laugh shaking his head.
Then there was a knock on the door and Mark's voice called through it. "Julian! Nova!" "It's time to go."
