Chapter 912

Spoiled by the President

Back in the chateau, Gideon and Nell were at the ready, waiting for him.

Once he got back and walked in, Gideon asked, “So how did it go with Shimon?”

Gregory pushed everything off the table and said, “It was as expected. He’s likely not involved in this. Flinders HQ is the one pulling the strings.”

Gideon faintly smiled. “The men I sent out also came back with some information. The three people in question are under control, and they were blackmailed to confess. They were indeed the ones who kidnapped Vickie, and the orders came from a higher up in the Flinders family. His name is Regan Flinders.”

Gregory frowned.

“Regan Flinders?”

“Yes.”

Gideon laid out the information he just received on the table and said, “There are many internal factions within the Flinders family. It’s messy and complex, far from the calm and well-organized family structure they publicly display.

“According to what we found out, the whole family takes orders from the patriarch, Louis Flinders, but since he has been in Europe for the past couple of years and didn’t know how to handle family affairs well in recent years, most of the family matters are handled by the other heads below him.

“They have a total of four heads, all being the previous generation’s patriarch’s brothers or nephews. The four Flinders are Skyler, Yohan, Bruce, and the kidnapper, Regan.

“As far as I can see, they may be deeply bound by blood but couldn’t be more divided. Normally, Skyler and Bruce get along well while Yohan and Regan have completely split into different factions.

“But they’re still unconditionally protective of their patriarch, Louis, so there’s normally no big conflicts.

“The only big conflict recently happened about half a month ago, which was also around the time Vickie went missing. We’re still unclear about why they fought, but the bold moves they made later on shows that what they fought about likely had something to do with the latter half of their plan.

“And now, since we’ve found out that Vickie’s disappearance has something to do with Regan, Louis and Yohan are probably backing up this whole series of events.

“The reason for kidnapping Vickie is exactly what Dan Thinple said. They wanted something to threaten you with when dealing with the Dragon Regiment. There are probably also other reasons we still don't know about.”

Gregory’s face fell as he listened to Gideon break down his analysis.

He said solemnly, “They want to kill two birds with one stone.”

“Possible.”

Gideon lightly nodded. “They deliberately sent people to intercept the Chinese Association when they made a move on Vickie to direct the blame onto them. They then assumed you’d butt heads with the Chinese Association, wearing them down enough for the Flinders to swoop in to take them out and swallow their land before coming after us.

“At that point, we would be worn down by the Chinese Association and with Vickie in their grasp, your hands would be tied. To swallow the Dragon Regiment would be child’s play.”

Gregory’s face turned even darker.

Nell was horrified.

To think such an elaborate and grand scheme was behind a missing person’s case.

She asked worriedly, “So... What do we do now?”

Gideon and Gregory both looked at her.

Gideon smiled. “Why of course, we wreck their plans. Now that we know what they’re up to, we charge right into the lion’s den.”

The very next day, Gregory brought his men and set off.

There was no need to implicate Gideon and Nell any further since the Flinders’ network ran wide and deep. This time, they had to act in secrecy even though all they aimed for was a trick.

What happened in the shadows stayed in the shadows. To send an army of troops out to deal with this was not ideal.

Thus, Gregory assembled a small team to accompany him on his rescue mission.

Since the three culprits were kept under their control, they already figured out where Vickie was held and the overall situation there.

It was likely that the other side had not caught on that the three men were taken under their control.

Right now, the best course of action was not to fight to the death, but instead to turn the tables on them and kidnap Vickie in the same way they did before they noticed anything amiss.

That way, both sides could avoid direct confrontation, preventing a massive war from breaking out during such tense times. Both sides would only incur losses that way.

Thankfully, things were still going according to plan.

When Gregory and his small troop arrived at their destination, they easily rescued Vickie.

They found that Vickie was unconscious when they saved her.

It was highly likely that they kept sedating her to keep her under control, so she was probably unconscious the whole time.

Being able to see his beloved after half a month filled Gregory with feelings of excitement and tenderness.

He gave her a once over the moment they got in the car.

Other than being unconscious, she was unharmed. He breathed a sigh of relief.

What distressed him was that after half a month in captivity, Vickie had become much thinner than before.

Her face was pale and lifeless while her eyes were shut tightly. In his arms, she looked like a fragile glass statue that could shatter at any moment.

Gregory’s heart left like it was being twisted into knots.

It was night by the time they reached the chateau. The moment they got back, he immediately called the doctors to perform a check-up.

They performed a thorough check-up and found that her physical condition was perfectly fine. The reason why she was still unconscious was because of an overdose of sedatives.

Her stressed and muddled mental state was also likely a reason.

Gregory frowned at that information.

If it was not for Gideon and Nell watching at the sides, he might have already rushed over there for revenge.

The doctors said that there was nothing major and she just needed time to quietly rest as well as take her medication. Vickie would be fine.

It was very late at night.

Nell looked at the innocent and fragile girl lying on the bed and realized that this was the first time she had seen Gregory in love with someone.

She smiled and said, “The important thing is that she’s safe. God’s watching over you after all. Since she’s back, things will be fine, Gregory. Don't worry too much.”

Gregory did not look at her but simply nodded.
