Chapter 865

Spoiled by the President

With that thought, Vickie was relieved.

However, she still felt a little unsettled that night when she slept.

She did not know why but her chest felt quite uneasy as if a stone was pressing down on her heart and made her want to vomit.

Vickie was awakened in the middle of the night.

There were sounds of hurried footsteps outside, so she rolled out of bed and ran to the window to take a look.

All she saw were cars and people running around outside. All of them were in a hurry and in a state of confusion.

Vickie had a bad feeling in her heart and looked at the time. It was just before 3:00 am.

At about the same time as she heard the noise, Andrea also came running from outside.

Andrea was still wearing her pajamas and only had a thin cardigan on as an outer layer.

Seeing that Vickie was at the window, she said urgently, "Ms. Vickie, how are you? Are you alright?"

Vickie turned and looked at her with slightly furrowed brows. "What's going on out there?"

Andrea replied, "I don't know. They said someone dropped a bomb in town and we’re about to go to war!"

Vickie was startled.

A war?

How was that possible?

Everyone knew that this side was Gregory Graham's territory. Although the Dragon Regiment had been declining over the past two years, it was not in such a bad condition that others would directly move in on them.

With a frown, Vickie asked, "Where’s Gregory?"

Andrea looked as if she was so anxious that she was about to cry. She was trembling as she said, "I was just about to tell you. I was just woken up and that was when I heard that the Young Master was back and badly injured, so I rushed over to find you."

Vickie was fiercely shaken.

She said in a deep voice, "He's injured? What time did it happen?"

"I don't know. I just heard about it."

"Where is he?"

"They’ve sent him back."

As soon as Andrea finished talking, the woman who was still in front of her a second ago had already rushed out.

Andrea was so shocked that she called out, "Ms. Vickie! Your leg injury...”

How could Vickie care about her own injury?

Her head was filled with the scene of Gregory getting injured.

He was seriously injured?

How was that possible?

Did he not have security? Who would do this to him so soon?

Her heart was pounding and it did not take long for her to run upstairs of the main building.

Only at this time did she discover that the second floor was filled with people who were not only the servants, Harold and the others, but even Massimo Nolan had arrived and they were all gathered around the bedroom door.

Her face changed as she quickly walked over.

"Where is he?"

When Harold saw her, he replied respectfully, "He’s in the bedroom."

Vickie wanted to walk inside, but she was held back by Massimo.

He looked at her with concerned eyes and said, "Gregory was injured by a bomb. The other party came prepared, so he’s seriously injured this time.

Don't worry too much as we've already found the best doctor to operate on him. Since it's not safe to go to the hospital at this time, we got someone to set up the operating room inside temporarily. Besides the doctor, Uncle Osborne’s in there to take care of him. Don't panic yet. If you want to go inside, then get changed first."

As Massimo explained, he had someone bring a set of sterile protective gear for her.

Without thinking about it, Vickie just put it on her body.

After she changed into the protective suit, she turned to Massimo. "Is this okay now?"

Massimo nodded.

Harold and the others who were guarding the door then let her in.

Vickie had been in Gregory’s bedroom before.

This time when she came back in, even though it had only been a few days since she last step foot inside, she felt like it was a strange and cold world in there — a place she had never been to at all.

A large wooden plank was placed on the bed in the center of the bedroom, and the plank was covered with a white sheet and surrounded by a white curtain.

As far as she could see, even the floor had been temporarily covered.

There was a faint smell of disinfectant in the room, so they should have been back for a while.

At this time, Mr. Osborne was standing next to the bed with a worried and distressed look on his face.

On the other side of the bed was a blonde-haired foreign doctor and two assistants, who were concentrating on operating the person in bed.

They were so focused that they did not even notice that there was suddenly an extra person in the room.

Vickie walked over silently.

When Mr. Osborne saw her, he said, "Ms. Thomas, you're here."

Vickie did not say anything.

She did not even look at him.

Her eyes just remained locked on the person lying on the bed.

That person was as pale as paper, and his clothes had been taken off, revealing the gruesome wounds all over his shoulders, stomach, legs, arms.

Even his head was wrapped in bandages.

The normally strong and domineering man was now lying there as weak and unconscious as a lifeless piece of paper.

All of a sudden, the tears welled up in her eyes.

However, Vickie tried her best to suppress it and did not let it roll out of her eyes.

She knew that she could not cry at this time.

With the current chaos and with Gregory in this state, if she cried, not only would it not help the current situation, but it would also make everyone even more panic and lose morale easily.

Therefore, she had to be strong.

Vickie turned her head and asked Mr. Osborne in a low voice, "What did the doctor say just now?"

She knew that the doctor would have said something.

Mr. Osborne said quietly, "It didn't hurt any vital organs, but the surgery still isn't easy, and everything can only be determined after the operation."

Vickie nodded her head.

With that, she took a deep breath and watched for a while longer before retreating quietly.

Everyone was still standing guard outside.

When they saw her come out of the room, they surged forward anxiously and asked about Gregory's condition.

Vickie did not answer, but she looked at Harold and said in a deep voice, "What happened today?"

Harold did not look too good as well.

After all, Gregory had gone out with him and his escorts.

However, he and the members of his team were fine, but Gregory was seriously injured, which could not be justified.

Thus, he felt horrible at the moment.

It felt worse than the shrapnel that was stuck onto his body.

There were too many people there, so it was not very convenient to talk. He said in a solemn voice, "Ms. Thomas, please let’s talk over there."

After he said that, he led her to the other end of the corridor.

Vickie did not say anything and just followed after him.

When they reached the end of the corridor, Harold stopped, turned around, and said in a low voice, "We've been ambushed."

Frowning, Vickie asked, "What do you mean?"

Harold continued, "Today, Young Master was supposed to take me with him to the city nearby to discuss a business deal. Since it ended too late and so it was not convenient to rush back tonight, we planned to return tomorrow morning."
