Chapter 784
Spoiled by the President
Who did she think she was?
She only stayed after she begged him to let her do so, and he had never actually favored her. Who was she to be able to stay here?
A guest? His girlfriend? Or...
She thought of something and went pale instantly.
However, Gregory started to laugh. There was a chill in his laughter which made it hard for Yuliana to understand how he felt, but her sub-conscience told her that it was no good.
She listened as he said in a low voice, âDonât flatter yourself. Youâre able to stay here because of my kindness. Do what you are supposed to do and donât consider yourself as my girlfriend. You donât qualify for that yet, understand?â
Yulianaâs expression sank.
Gregory refused to entertain her further. With long strides, he marched out of the doorway.
...
Vickie rushed home. By the time she reached the chateau, it was already past 9.00 p.m.
She had missed dinner and was starving, so she immediately looked for Mr. Osborne who was surprised by her return. He ordered a maid to prepare supper and asked Vickie, âWhy are you alone? Where is the Young Master?â
Astonished, Vickie lifted her head and noticed the confusion in Mr. Osborneâs eyes. There was a wrinkle between his eyebrows.
âGregory? I wasnât with him.â
Mr. Osborne was shocked. âBut he went to look for you.â
Vickie was taken aback.
Mr. Osborne was so anxious that he slapped his thigh and said, âHe went out about half an hour ago. He also called you several times but no one answered. He didnât even have dinner, and after that, he suddenly said that he was going out. I thought both of you met up. Sigh!â
Vickie came to her senses and looked away. She wondered for a moment and replied, âDonât worry. Heâll come back once heâs unable to find me.â
Mr. Osborne hesitated. His lips twitched as if he wanted to say something, but he eventually gave up as he regarded the cold Vickie Thomas.
In the end, he sighed and said, âIâll give him a call.â
When the food was served, Gregory returned.
Only ten minutes had passed. When Gregory entered, there was a huge scowl on his face. Anyone could tell that he was in a horrible mood.
Naturally, Vickie noticed it too.
There was no need for him to do so, yet, for some reason, when she realized how he had gone out to look for her in vain, she felt a bit guilty when she saw his darkened expression.
She darted her gaze and said meekly, âYouâre back? I heard you havenât eaten. Do you want to eat together?â
Gregory shot her an icy stare. He removed his jacket, revealing the black shirt he wore underneath and his muscular figure. Then, he handed his jacket to the maid and sat down opposite her.
The tension between them was suffocating.
âWhere have you been today?â he asked her in a deep and unfriendly tone.
Vickie picked up the chopsticks and poked the rice in her bowl as she avoided his gaze. âNowhere.â
âBy nowhere, where did you go?â Anger had crept into his voice.
Vickie shuddered. She knew that in the coming days, both of them still needed to work together. Despite her grudge with him, she had to use his power and influence to find the real culprit who had destroyed the Vermilion Bird Organization. She would never let go of the person who drove a wedge between the two organizations and harmed her.
It was too difficult for her to do this alone, so she needed his help.
When she thought of this, she looked Gregory in the eye and pressed her lips together. Putting her chopsticks down, she said firmly, âI went out to do something.â
âWhat is it?â
âPersonal matters.â
She did not want to disclose too much info. However, Gregoryâs pupils shrank slightly.
Vickie explained seriously, âGregory, I have the right to do my own things. We are partners and Iâm not your criminal.â
A sarcastic laugh escaped from the man. It was as if all of the anger trapped within him was set free like air from a burst balloon. Nevertheless, the tension did not diminish. Instead, it led to a rift between the two.
After a while, Gregory spoke, âThe right? Vickie Thomas, you want to talk about rights?â
He took a big step forward, oozing an overbearing air of dominance. Vickie frowned but stood her ground. She did not back away as she eyed him calmly.
At the next second, she felt a powerful grip on her chin.
Gregory lifted her chin, forcing her to look at him. He lowered his voice. âDonât you know that ever since you set foot in this chateau, all of your so-
called rights have been determined by me? Do you think that we are equal and that you can negotiate with me? Who gave you such confidence and boldness?â
His words were like needles that pierced Vickieâs heart.
She regarded him with a smile. Her chin ached and it caused her fingers to curl up into tight fists.
However, unlike he expected, she did not burst into anger.
On the contrary, she was calm, so calm that she behaved like she did not just hear his harsh remarks and hostile tone.
She replied coolly, âLet go!â
Gregory regarded her arrogantly and did not move.
Vickie repeated, âI said, let go.â
This time, Gregory seemed to have heard the coolness in her steady voice. His expression softened slightly and he loosened his grip.
Vickie stepped back and massaged her chin.
As she eyed him in a composed manner, she lowered her voice. âGregory, Iâve always presumed that a fair partnership is based on the willingness of both parties and equality. From the looks of it now, you and I share vastly different beliefs. In that case, I wonât force you. From today onwards, weâll go our separate ways. Youâll walk your own path while I walk mine, and we wonât bother each other again.â

The living room was silent.
Gregory and Mr. Osborne, who stood aside, were shocked.
Gregory never expected Vickie to be so decisive. A few seconds passed before he regained his composure. He moved forward and grabbed her hand.
âStay.â
âLet go!â
With a huge force, the woman shoved his hand away. Gregory was caught off-guard and moved two steps back as a result. The two of them looked at one another in the eye solemnly.
He said coldly, âVickie, come here! I was too harsh with my words just now. Letâs discuss it again.â
Vickie laughed sardonically. A wave of melancholy came to her. She did not know why she felt this way.
She just felt tired. The squabbles she experienced these days and the things that she tried to ignore seemed to have been magnified at this very moment, and she let it all out.
She shook her head and responded, âI wonât come over. Gregory Graham, letâs break off the partnership!â
