Chapter 487
Spoiled by the President
Nell looked at Gideon skeptically and asked, âReally?â
âYup! I swear to you.â
âAlright, I trust you.â
Gideon accompanied Nell for a while and fed her some liquid foods as per the doctorâs instructions. In the afternoon, a maternity nurse came in to help her with breastfeeding.
Naturally, it was another round of torture.
The people hired by the Leith family were thankfully all experienced masters. It only lasted a few minutes and the whole ordeal was over, at least Nell had suffered less too.
The Old Madam brought Joseph Garrett and a few others into the ward after the maternity nurse left.
Nell was starving, but because she had just gotten out of surgery, she could not eat too much. She could not help but salivate at the sight and smell of the bowl of soup in front of her.
Her expression changed as she sipped a spoonful of soup.
Nell looked at the Old Madam and asked shyly, âGrandma, did they forget to put salt in this soup?â
The Old Madam could not help but laugh at Nellâs reaction. She then explained, âYou shouldnât eat food that is too salty during your confinement, so I specially requested that they put in less salt. You just have to endure this for another month. After your confinement period, you can eat whatever you want.â
Nellâs face turned bitter upon hearing this.
However, she squeezed her nose and finished the soup as she thought about her child.
Gideon too never left Nellâs side during the entire confinement period.
At first, Joseph Garrett was worried about Nellâs sudden birth, but he soon felt relieved after witnessing the Leith family taking such good care of Nell.
Nell did not go to a confinement center for her confinement but was at home instead as they had hired a few professional confinement nannies.
They hired two confinement nannies and two child caretakers.
The whole villa was suddenly filled with people.
Old Madam Leith also visited them every two to three days as she adored her great-grandson very much.
She hated the fact that she could not move in with them.
Under Gideonâs strict rules on this matter, he could not agree to the Old Madamâs request of moving in.
After all, the house was already crowded with the nannies and servants, which had disturbed the peace and privacy of him and Nell. If the Old Madam were to move in with them too, it would have been more inconvenient.
Seeing that he had refused her proposal without consideration, the Old Madam chided him for being heartless.
In the blink of an eye, it was already the babyâs full moon.
The Leith family held a grand full moon party for the baby.
Old Master Leith had come up with a few names and Gideon had also pondered on for a long time.
In the end, they settled with the Old Masterâs choice of âViemondâ, which was a play on the word âvieâ which carried the meaning of striving for the better.
Although the Leith family was where they were today, their power and wealth were not for nothing. They came up with this name to serve as a reminder for this pampered child who would undoubtedly grow up under everyoneâs love and attention.
They wanted to remind the child that everything in this world would go through natural selection. No one would remain high and mighty forever. Only through oneâs hard work that one could remain at the top.
It seemed like every social elite in the capital was present on the day of the full moon party.
Nell had not fully recovered, so she did not go outside to receive the guests. Instead, she stayed inside with the companion of Old Madam Leith.
The matters outside were mostly handled by Gideon and Old Master Leith, whereas the female guests were entertained by Old Madam Leith.
Todayâs grand occasion was all to Nellâs expectations.
There was only one person whom she did not anticipate.
Everyone was stunned the moment Gale Shelby walked through the doors.
Old Madam Leith was the first to react.
Ultimately, he was a part of Nellâs maiden family and albeit Nell not acknowledging their relationship, they were still related by blood. Hence, they also did not want to be rude on this joyous occasion.
The Old Madam smiled and said, âMr. Shelby, youâre here.â
âHello, Old Madam Leith.â
Gale Shelby greeted the Old Madam politely and turned towards Nell before he said, âI knew you gave birth a while ago, but I was busy with some matters on hand so I could not come to visit. Fortunately, I managed to make it for his full moon party. This is a small gift, I hope you like it.â
Gale ordered somebody to bring out a brocade box while he spoke.
He opened the elaborate box to reveal a gorgeous golden longevity locket.
It looked relatively heavy judging by its quality.
âThe baby canât wear this yet. Just keep it first.â
The Old Madam said with a smile.
Gale Shelby nodded his head in acknowledgment.
Remembering that Gale had brought over his jade plate a while ago, Nell felt quite grateful towards him. Nell smiled and said, âGrandma, Iâd like to have a few words with Mr. Shelby.â
The Old Madam nodded her head and ordered somebody to help her out of the room.
Nell sat on a chair and cradled her child without looking at Gale.
âYouâre here not just for the party, are you?â
âThatâs right.â
Gale did not avoid the topic.
He thought that Nell was an intelligent person and talking to intelligent people while hiding something would only make him seem uptight and ridiculous. On the contrary, it would be better to speak openly.
Nell raised her head and looked at Gale.
She extended her arm, gesturing for him to sit.
âPlease have a seat.â
Gale sat down on a chair nearby while Nell asked for somebody to prepare a pot of tea. She said, âYouâre here today because of the child?â
âYes.â
Gale admitted once again.
He paused and said, âNelly, I know that you have a lot of misunderstandings with the Shelby family. Iâm not the responsible party and have no way of explaining it to you clearly nor can I help you resolve all your emotional baggage.
âYou are still part of the Shelby bloodline. This is an unchanging fact unless all of your blood has drained from your body and you have lost all of your muscle. Even if youâre only left with bones, you are still part of the Shelby family.
âIâm not asking you to do anything. I can understand if you donât want to come back and refuse to take over the Bauhinia Clan. But you canât make this decision on behalf of your child regarding his future.â
Nell turned around to face Gale.
He looked calm.
She suddenly smiled.
Her beautiful eyes looked as if they were in deep thought and she slowly spoke, âBased on seniority, I should be calling you Second Uncle?â
A small movement flashed across Galeâs eyes and he nodded.
âYes.â
âAlright, then Iâll call you Second Uncle.â
Nellâs voice was warm and indifferent. It does not sound cold, yet it was certainly not enthusiastic.
âI never understood this. Everyone in this world loves power and wealth, yet when itâs offered to you on a silver platter, why do you not want it? Why must you give it to me to feel at ease?â

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 Without waiting for Galeâs response, Nell added, âDonât say itâs about the family bloodline, I donât believe in that. The people who have blood relations with me have never once shown up for the first 18 years of my life and have not given me an ounce of warmth. I donât believe that you still couldnât find me even after using all your resources.
âIn my opinion, my biological mother is not better than my adoptive mother. Everything that I ever had when I was young was given to me by my mom. The education that Iâve received, the knowledge that Iâve gained, and how I treat others were also taught by my mom.
âNow that Iâve grown up, I donât want to be responsible nor do I have a duty to my so-called biological fatherâs family, for the Shelby family. My child, even more so.â
Witnessing her calm and firm stance, Gale felt a complex emotion in his heart.
