Chapter 365
Spoiled by the President
Jim was fuming from the ears but could only comply with her wishes.
âFine, I promise you. You have to tell me where you are first.â
âNo rush, I still have a condition!â
âYou still have a condition?â Jim could not believe his ears. âArenât you clear on the situation? Only I can save you now. What are the chances of you surviving if people were to find out you devised a plan to kill Nell?â
Celine scoffed. âIâll be dead and so are you. Donât forget, you came up with the idea.â
She then played the recording to the other end of the phone line as a reminder.
Jim had reached the limit of his patience yet was wary of the evidence she had in hand. In the end, he forcibly swallowed the fury within.
âFine! You win, speak! Whatâs your condition?â
âSimple. Prepare me a sum of money of at least fifty million and transfer to my offshore account. Donât expect me to be a beggar in another country!â
Jim gnashed his teeth. âFifty million? Why donât you just rob a bank!â
Celine coldly smirked. âUncle, why the huge reaction? Fifty million is just a small sum to you! You ditched your wife and daughter over the years so that you can live the life of an heir in the capital. Hadnât you thought about what my mom and I have been through?
âTo tell you frankly, Iâve had it with you during my time in the capital! You want to send me abroad now that the jigâs up. Sure, it looks as though youâre protecting me but youâre only doing it to protect yourself.
âSo, am I wrong to ask for fifty million to keep my lips sealed? Donât worry, as long as youâre willing to pay, Iâll keep my mouth shut and never breathe to a single soul, not just on this matter, but your other dirty dealings as well.â
Jimâs eyes were blaring red from anger.
There was a menacing glint in his eyes.
After awhile, he took a deep breath. âOkay! I promise you.â
âNow youâre talking! Iâll send you the address later on. Donât get smart with me, I donât have just one copy with me, I backed it up in other places too.
âThese recordings will be leaked out if anything happens to me. Everyone will know that the seemingly loving and benevolent Eldest Master of the Garretts is such a cold-blooded person behind the doors!â
Jim coldly cut her off. âEnough!â
Celine curled his lips with a smug before hanging up the call.
After the line was terminated, she packed a few necessities and sent the address to Jim.
Just then, the doorbell rang outside.
With her heart sinking to her stomach, she froze.
âWhoâs there?â
âRoom service.â
Celine let out a sigh of relief.
She knew it. That person may have been caught but he would not give it up that quickly. They would not be able to link it to her yet.
Celine raised her voice at that thought. âThereâs no need for that.â
However, there was a click on the door and soon the door swung open.â
âYou...â
Shocked, she lifted her head and saw the man, often toiling away from dawn to dusk, walking in with two rows of bodyguards in tow.
His cold and gloomy eyes fixated on her. âCeline Jennings, choose your death!â
...
Celine had never imagined that the crime would be brought to light this quick.
Standing in the middle of the living room, she faced the stone-cold man with her feet heavy as though lead was infused in them. She could not find the strength to lift her legs.
âWhat-what are you trying to do? Young Master Leith, I didnât get into Sisterâs hair recently. I followed her instructions to apologize to everyone. You canât be here for another round of payback!â
She still tried to play dumb. Having lost the last ounce of his patience, Gideon threw a look to the side and someone came up to kick Celine in the back of her knees.
Celine fell on her knees in a thump. The pain sent tears swelling in her eyes.
The next second, she heard the hollowing sound of approaching leather shoes tapping on the floor.
âI donât hit women but under the condition that my woman is unharmed!â
With that, he kicked her out.
Like a kite with a broken string, Celine smashed onto the wall before tumbling down on the floor with a mouthful of blood. It was obvious how much force was put into the kick.
Gideon darted a cold stare at her. His eyes spoke of zero pity.
No one knew how angry he was when he received the call that Nelly was badly hurt because her harness was tampered with and she was almost crushed to smithereens by falling off a cliff.
In the face of such fury, the principle of not hitting women and gentility was thrown out the window.
Celine was in too much pain to speak. With his cold eyes still on her, Gideon pointed at the cellphone that fell not far from him.
âBring that to me.â
A bodyguard came forth and picked the phone up before respectably handing it over with two hands.
Gideon unlocked the phone. The screen was stuck on the page where the recording was played.
He clicked to play and heard the full conversation between Celine and Jim.
His face grew grim bit by bit the recording played until in the end, it was eerie.
Celine moved her lips, wanting to say something but the ripping ache on her chest disabled her from speech.
Gideon hurled the phone to his men before coldly blurting, âTake her to the underground market. You all can perish with her if sheâs still alive by tomorrow.â
The man then turned and trod away.
With a shiver running down their backs, everyone on site answered, âYes!â
...
Nell had a restless sleep this night, leaving her rather unsettled.
In her dreams, she was constantly left suspended on the cliff.
She dreamed that she was hanging mid-air with two hands gripping on a broken steel wire. A staff member tossed her a rope in a rescue mission but that rope snapped apart when she extended her hand to grab it.
Powerless, she could only sit by as she took the plunge and crashed onto solid stone slates in a bam. Her body was smashed into a pile of waste!
She caught her breath in a jolt, fully awake by then.
Nell opened her eyes to find it was at night. The silver moon shone through the window amid the silent surrounding.
So, it was all a dream!
Basked in lingering fear, Nell shut her eyes and wiped away the cold sweat on her forehead. Her body was abnormally cold.
The scene in her dream kept playing back in her mind. It felt so real as though she had experienced it herself.
For a moment, she lost the urge to sleep. With her throat dry and parched as if in flames, she lifted the sheets and got down to pour herself a drink.
To her surprise, she had just got out of bed when the door was opened from the outside. A sturdy figure came waltzing in.
Confused, Nell cried out, âGideon?â
Gideon had a white shirt on with a black vest over it and black trousers at the bottom, accentuating his lofty figure.
His gaze swept past her thin pajamas and onto her bare feet under the pants.
Nell immediately coiled her legs and asked, âDid you just come home from outside?â
