Chapter 331
Spoiled by the President
Gideon was also aware of this news but compared to Nellâs apprehension, he took it easy.
âYoungest Graham is self-reliant, he wonât yield to his family. If he does, that means he doesnât have independent ability and determination from the start. Heâd have to marry other women even if he doesnât tie the knot with Celine. Itâs all for mutual benefit and thereâs really no difference.â
Nell was still worried.
âBut she...â
Looking into her eyes, Gideon gently pinched the palm of her hand.
âDonât be scared,â he whispered, âThe Grahams and the Leiths are already on opposite sides. For that woman to do that to you, you guys will never bury the hatchet and become friends again regardless of whether she marries Youngest Graham. Sheâll remain the enemy. It doesnât affect you whether or not they tie the knot.â
Nell lifted her head and gazed at him. A hint of woe unraveled between her fine brows.
âIs it really okay? Can you handle it alone if the Garretts stand together with the Grahams?â
Gideon smiled.
He reached out and carefully cupped her face, his finger caressing her face. A while later, he spoke softly, âI can if you always stand by my side.â
Nellâs heart thumped.
The manâs gaze was so gentle yet firm. There was an unspoken force that gradually calmed her heart.
Extending her hands, she cradled around his waist and stuck her face close to his chest.
âIâll always stand by you and weâll always be together no matter what happens.â
Gideon curled his lips in delight.
âDonât worry. The Grahams wonât take any measure in these two days. Theyâd at least wait until after the New Year to make a move. Just indulge in the holidays before then, okay?â
Nell nodded and hummed in acknowledgment.
...
On the other side, Jincheng.
Of course, it was a bustle in the Hancock household during the first day of the Lunar New Year.
As the boss of the leading enterprise in Jincheng, Ethan welcomed an endless stream of visitors on this day.
Ulric, the young master of the Hancock family, tended to socialization as well.
The maids in the house were as busy as a bee, working from the back kitchen to the lobby. They did not stop for even a second.
Thus, Janet, who had nothing to do, was the only one in the entire family with time in her hands.
She could not be bothered to face hobnobbing mugs. Hence, she stayed upstairs and even had lunch sent to her room to eat.
Busy entertaining guests, Ethan did not bother with her. On the contrary, Ulric, in the midst, sent someone to look for her once, enquiring whether she would like to take a seat downstairs. A lot of elders from the company had arrived and she, as the younger generation, should meet up since she was back in Jincheng.
However, he was rejected by Janet.
She had never thought to get involved with the company affairs. It was enough to have her father and brother in the company.
So, of course, she would not waste her time to meet these people.
Ulric felt helpless but was clear of his sisterâs temper. He did not pursue the matter.
As there were too many guests and Janet refused to help out, the household without a hostess was a madhouse even with an abundance of maids around.
With that, Ethan booked a private room in a nearby five-star hotel and prepared to take them there for a meal.
Not wanting to go, Janet nestled in her room and watched television dramas.
As they were still giving each other the silent treatment, Ethan let her be. There were maids in the house anyway and ready meals. She would not go hungry. He then took his guests out when it was time.
Hearing the hubbub outside gradually fading away, Janet turned off the tablet in front of her and closed her eyes. She put on her slippers and went out.
With her finally out of the bedroom, a maid immediately advanced forward.
âEldest Miss, where are you going?â
Janet casually waved her arm. âYou can leave me. Iâm just going to take a walk around.â
As it was not her place to ask further questions, the maid turned and retreated.
Janet came to the study and looked around.
She could not find her contract.
Janet knew that although she was Ethanâs flesh and blood, Ethan could at times be heartless, yielding the iron fist.
If she wanted to make a comeback in filming and be free of her fatherâs reins, she had to first find the contract.
Nevertheless, she found no trace of it after turning the study upside down.
Janet searched for a very long time until she grew impatient. Straightening her back, she was about to give a call to her brother to see if he had seen the contract when she turned her head and saw Ulric standing at the door.
Startled, she quickly patted her chest.
âBrother! What are you doing? You scared me to death.â
Ulric helplessly shook his head.
He took strides over and straightened up the areas Janet had messed up bit by bit before saying, âDonât waste your time here. Dad is holding onto your contract. No one can get to it without his permission. He already has his guard up on you so why would he put such a thing at home?â
Dumbstruck, Janet frowned.
âSo, you donât know where it is either?â
Ulric frankly shook his head. âI donât know.â
Janet was furious.
âWhat is he trying to do? Does he really want to drive me up the wall?â
Ulric grinned.
âYouâre being unfair to a good man now. Dad is doing this for your own good.â
Stiffening her face, Janet looked away.
Ulric sighed at her stubbornness.
âWe have our reasons why we wonât let you be together with that man but you wonât listen and insist on running away with him. You even have his child. We can let these pass.
âHowever, have you called home in the entire year? Did you show concern? Dad isnât angry about you and that man but the daughter he nurtured all those years raised hell in the family because of a man. If it were you, wouldnât you feel upset as well? Wouldnât you feel disappointed?â
Janetâs eyes reddened.
She pursed her lips and lowered her head to wipe the corners of her eyes.
Moments later, she muttered under her breath, âItâs not like I didnât want to contact him.â
She always got a good dressing-down every time she called home. Over time, she just did not want to be the receiving end of a lecture.
Ulric burst out laughing and despondently shook his head.
He extended his arm to fondle the top of her head. His tone was rather helpless.
âMy silly little sister, you really are silly.â
With a lump in her throat, Janet could not express any words.
Ulric turned and retrieved a document from between the drawers and handed it to her.
Surprised, Janet took it. Her eyes widened in shock when she took a good look at the content of the document.
âDidnât you say you donât know...â

Janet was stunned. It took a while before she snapped out of it. That was when she pounced to give Ulric a hug.
âThank you, Brother.â
