Chapter 314

Spoiled by the President

To show her gratitude, Janet invited Owen to stay for dinner.

However, Owen politely declined.

Nell did not know if it was just her imagination but she felt that Owen was acting a little abnormal lately.

The man who had always been gentle, elegant, and high-spirited seemed to be constantly frowning lately and slightly gloomy.

Nell asked with concern as she sent him out, “Doctor Jackman, has something happened recently? It feels like you have something on your mind.”

Owen was startled and forced a smile.

“It’s nothing.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really.” He paused, suddenly remembering that clear and pristine face, and could not help but frown.

Nell saw that he was reluctant to talk, so she did not ask anything more. After sending him to his car, she waved and watched him leave.

Time flew.

In the blink of an eye, it was Sunny’s hundredth-day birthday banquet.

Although Janet did not have many friends and family in the capital, it was a very important day for the child, so neither Nell nor Janet wanted to be perfunctory.

They had invited a few good friends and threw a small party at Spotlight Chateau as a celebration.

Since it was close to the end of the year, it was difficult for everyone to make time. It was already a great thing that they attended.

Even Owen took a break from the pile of data reports in the research institute and specially bought a small playground for little Sunny as a gift.

The banquet could be considered to be warm and grand.

Owen still had a research report to write in the evening, so he could only stay for half an hour before leaving.

On the other side, in the bar downstairs.

Spotlight Chateau was a high-end entertainment and leisure clubhouse. The tenth floor and above were for recreational events while the first to the third floor was a large bar.

Tara received a message from Tom Graham saying that he was here and told her to come over to clarify things between the two.

That day, although Mrs. Graham had been chased away by her, the Graham family’s desire to be joined in marriage with the Garrett family remained intact.

Tara felt that the older generation was not very good at communication. Although she refused to marry Tom, the Grahams would not dare to do anything to her either. However, it was still troublesome to be pulled here and there.

Therefore, it would be good if she could talk things over with Tom.

Thinking like this, she agreed to the appointment and went over.

When she arrived, she realized that today was Tom’s birthday.

Tom was wearing a very fashionable hooded sweater and had a red headband on his head today, making him look like someone who fooled around.

He looked at her and whistled. “Hey, didn’t you say you wouldn’t come today? Why did you end up coming anyway?”

Tara glared at him fiercely. “If I don’t come, will you tell your mother to stop coming to my house to harass my family in the future?”

Tom did not get angry and laughed instead. “I can’t guarantee that. After all, my mother is just interested in you and wants you to be her daughter-in-

law. What can I do?”

Tara snorted coldly. Looking at this man’s smug look, she wanted nothing more than to mercilessly beat him up.

Tom had turned and walked in. After two steps, he saw that she was still standing there and raised his eyebrows. “What are you spacing out for?

Come here!”

Tara gritted her teeth. Remembering what her mother told her before she went out, she had no choice but to follow him.

When they reached the seats, she found that there were many people around, both men and women.

It was Tom’s birthday, so the scene was naturally noisy and the group of people partied wildly. It was not unheard of before Tara, but it was the first time she saw it, so she was still somewhat dumbfounded.

Everyone present was in pairs, and there was no one alone. Standing beside Tom like this naturally made it easy for people to misunderstand.

Realizing this, Tara suddenly understood Tom’s intention of calling her here today and her expression could not help but darken further.

The two had not even sat down when someone asked, “Tom, who’s that?”

Tom smiled wickedly and threw a hand over Tara’s shoulders. “This is my girl, Tara!”

Tara frowned and threw his hand off.

Tom naturally sensed her rejection and narrowed his eyes but said nothing.

Then, he introduced Tara to the group in front of them.

Although Tara was expressionless, it would not be good to be too cold when there were this many people present, so she nodded her head.

The group only thought that Tom’s girlfriend was the aloof type and thought not much of it, and soon continued to party away.

Tom leaned over and lowered his voice. “Be good and play along with me, and we’ll talk after. Don’t worry, it’s not like I don’t have anyone else and have to beg you to stay. However, you can’t possibly bear to humiliate me in front of my brothers, right?”

Tara sneered and said nothing.

Tom rubbed his chin and remained silent, and turned around to play with his friends.

Tara did not like their style, so from start to finish, she simply sat in the corner by herself, not participating in any of their games.

As time went on, even Tom’s friend sensed that something was wrong. He nudged Tom’s arm and whispered, “Hey, haven’t you fixed your girlfriend yet? Look at how aloof she is. She isn’t caring about us at all.”

Tom glanced at her and saw her sitting there with a cold look, and his face darkened too.

His eyes were cold as he scoffed. “I’ll settle her sooner or later.”

The guy laughed at his words and turned to continue playing.

A moment later, Tom walked over to Tara and handed her a glass of wine. “Since you’re already here, why are you making that kind of face? Have a drink!”

Tara looked at him and frowned. “I don’t drink.”

“You come to a bar yet refuse to drink. Do you think this is a children’s playground?”

Tara was unmoved. Her tone was cold. “It’s not like I want to be here. If you don’t like it, then you can talk to me first. After that, we’ll go our separate ways and never disturb each other again. How about that?”

“You!”

Tom choked with anger. Their conversation fell into the ears of a middle-aged man not far away, who laughed coldly.

Tom glared at her in fury but Tara ignored him and sat there playing with her phone.

In the end, he did not do anything else and stormed away.

When he returned to his seat, the man who laughed earlier suddenly waved at him.

Tom walked over and asked, “Brother Hale, what’s up?”

The man called Brother Hale lifted his chin and jerked it at Tara sitting in the corner. “You haven’t settled your girlfriend yet?”

Tom frowned. Worried that he would be made fun of, he snorted. “What are you saying? Women are just over sensitive. We only had a small disagreement recently. She’s usually submissive to me.”
