Chapter 300
Spoiled by the President
Lucy dared not speak and immediately retreated to guard the crystal, but nearly got herself killed along the way. She could not take it anymore and told Joel, who played as a Tank, âWhy are you so lame? Youâre a Tank, so you gotta defend me, got it?â
Joel, who played very badly today, mumbled, âGot it.â
Nevertheless, he was surrounded and killed.
When he died, Lucy, who was behind him, died as well.
Seeing that her own teamâs crystal had been captured, Lucy stood up without warning and growled. âCan I kill my teammate? Because I want to kill my teammate.â
Nell laughed. âNot in games but I permit you to do so in real life.â
Joel felt bitter. He threw his phone aside and got up. âI donât want to play anymore.â
After that, he turned around and headed outside.
When he went out, the people in the room glanced at each other and tried to process what had just happened.
Nell eyed Gideon, then coughed and addressed the crowd. âEh, it was just a game. Donât take it personally.â
Next, she winked at Lucy and hinted at her to check on Joel.
However, Lucy pretended not to notice her gesture and ignored her.
Nell was anxious.
Owen saw her reaction and smiled shyly. âNo worries, heâs probably out for a smoke. Come, letâs continue.â
Lucy did not reject his invitation and started another round with them.
Nell nudged Gideon and whispered, âGo check on him. Itâs a gathering and supposed to be a joyful event.â
A slight frown appeared on Gideonâs brows, but he eventually agreed.
Joel was standing on the balcony and smoking.
Winter in the north was exceptionally cold. Moreover, the New Year was around the corner, so one could feel the snowflakes in the breeze when one stood on the balcony. He narrowed his eyes and gazed at the endless skyline. Smoke rings swirled and escaped from the cigarette between his fingers.
With knitted eyebrows, Gideon approached him and gave him a nudge. âWhatâs the matter? You didnât have to get angry over a game.â
Joel frowned but kept quiet.
Gideon stared at him in disbelief and chuckled. âDonât tell me that you, a man, got offended over a womanâs remarks.â
His words resulted in a deeper frown on Joelâs face. Finally, he had to explain, âNot because of this.â
âWhy, then?â
Joel paused and turned to look at him. There was a mixture of confusion and trouble within his gaze.
It was Gideonâs first time seeing such an expression on Joel.
They gazed at each other calmly. There was a momentâs silence before Joel glanced away impatiently and said, âIâm just frustrated.â
Gideon was surprised and laughed.
âWhy? About Miss Katz?â
âNo,â Joel answered hastily. He gave it a thought and shook his head. âI donât know either. It might sound funny, but I feel that she no longer treats me the same way when we were kids. Sigh, I donât know how to say this, but I just feel frustrated.â
Gideon nodded to express his understanding. âSo, youâre sulking now?â
âNo, sigh! Second Elder Brother, let me be honest with you, I think... I think I kinda like her. Um, do you think this means that I like her?â
An unsettled Joel turned around and regarded Gideon. His eyebrows were locked in a frown and he seemed confused.
âShe always picks on me and makes fun of me. She has never treated me well, yet I like it. Am I being a simp?!â
Gideon laughed.
He nodded. âYes, youâre a simp.â
âSecond Elder Brother!â
Gideon shook his head and patted him on his shoulder. âIâm not the right person to comment on this. You have to think about it yourself. No matter what others say, their comments are just based on how they feel. Such feelings are best experienced on your own. Donât rush it and just take it easy.
Once you have cleared your mind, youâll know what you want.â
Joel listened and nodded half-comprehendingly.
Gideon raised his eyebrows. âCan we head inside now?â
Joel nodded and pointed at the cigarette in his hand. âIâll come in after this.â
Then, Gideon left.
When he got in, he saw Nell giving him a strange look. He approached her and grinned. âAre your eyes uncomfortable?â
Nell glared at him.
After making sure no one was watching them, she pulled him aside and asked, âHow was it? Is Joel angry?â
Gideon eyed her with a raised eyebrow. âAre men so touchy to you?â
Nell scoffed and pouted. âWell, all those sayings about being big-hearted and magnanimous are lies.â
Gideon narrowed his eyes. âYou... Seem to be upset with me.â
He came close to her and Nell sensed a dangerous tension between them. Her heart skipped a beat and she retreated while waving a hand dismissively.
She giggled. âNothing, nothing, youâre overthinking it. Since everything is fine, Iâll check on them.â
Following that, she hurried away. Gideon felt amused as he saw her running away.
When Nell returned to the dining hall, she noticed that Janet and Lucy were still gaming.
They did not seem bothered by how Joel, who had left the group abruptly.
She understood Janetâs reaction. The latter could be very sensitive at times, but usually, she gave off an indifferent vibe. Lucy, on the other hand...
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 299 Baby Daddy Wrong Ride, Right Lover ï¤Chapter 1980 Nell walked toward them stealthily and observed Lucyâs side profile. Her head was lowered and her gaze was fixed on the screen, but she messed up her controls frequently and was not paying attention to the game at all.
Janet had to keep reminding her, âLucy, thereâs an Assassin behind you.â
âLucy, follow me, donât leave the team!â
âSigh, what are you thinking? Quick, attack the dragon!â
â...â
Lucy fumbled and muttered a response. She followed Janet, but judging from her actions and expression, she was distracted and in a daze.
Nell remained silent and stifled a laugh. She had an inkling of what was going on and left without bothering them.
When she reached the doorway, she was surprised to learn that Owen and Tara were no longer around.
Coincidentally, she met Simon, who was coming back. âWhere are Tara and Doctor Jackman?â
Simon was baffled too. He thought for a while before answering, âI didnât see Owen but Miss Garrett has just gone to the nursery at the back with an attendant. She said that she wants to have a look at the flowers cultivated here.â
Nell replied, âOk, understood.â
They were at a luxurious, private restaurant owned by Gideon. Instead of being established for profit, it was normally used to receive selected family members and friends.
Therefore, it was not a restaurant but more like an alternate version of Fengqiao Villa.
