Chapter 297

Spoiled by the President

Janet answered, “I shall return after postpartum confinement.”

Nell was surprised. “That’s fast!”

“Yeah.”

Janet seemed troubled but she did not tell Nell. She simply smiled and spoke, “Till then, I’ll meet up with you.”

Nell nodded. “Great, I’ll pick you up then.”

“Mm.”

They ended the call.

A month later, Janet returned from Country F.

That day, Nell picked her up.

She had a child by her side. As she was afraid of being photographed, she dressed herself down and kept a low profile.

When she got into Nell’s car, the latter gave her a closer look.

Fortunately, Janet looked radiant. Apart from gaining a bit of weight after childbirth, she hardly changed.

Nell heaved a sigh of relief.

She moved closer and hugged Janet.

“You’re finally back. Did you know how much I missed you?”

Janet laughed. “Pfft, Young Master Leith will be jealous if he hears about this.”

Nell giggled as well and scoffed. “I don’t care about him.”

Instead of heading back to Jincheng, Janet stayed in the capital city.

Earlier, Nell had found a residence for her. It was a detached villa not far away from Fengqiao Villa.

The house used to belong to Gideon. Later, Gideon transferred ten or so of his properties to Nell. Thus, the houses now belonged to her.

Once Janet and her son had settled down in their new home, Nell allowed them to rest for two days before holding a banquet to welcome her return.

Janet knew that Nell was worried she would feel out of place here, which was the reason for organizing the banquet.

So, she did not reject her kind gesture and agreed.

Two days later, Nell hosted the gathering and invited Joel Foster and the gang. They went out at night for dinner and had fun at the KTV.

When they had reached the KTV, everybody else had arrived.

Today was a holiday for Lizzy, so Nell brought her along too.

When they got out of the car, they saw Janet at the entrance.

Janet had been waiting for them at the entrance. Lizzy recognized her and ran up to her to give her a tight hug. She greeted her happily, “Aunt Jan.”

Janet was delighted and returned a wide grin.

She held her up and scanned her from top to toe. “What a good girl, Lizzy. You’ve gotten prettier, too. Come, let Auntie see whether you’ve grown taller.”

She took a step back and chuckled. “Yes, you have.”

Gideon and Nell approached her. Janet saw the couple and beamed with joy. “Long time no see, President Leith. Looks like things have been going really well for you. You’re glowing! What’s the secret? A loving relationship, I bet?”

Nell smiled bashfully and stared at her friend.

Instead of waiting for Gideon’s response, she interjected. “Yeah, so?”

Janet giggled. “So? Of course, I’m gonna congratulate you on finding your true love.”

Nell blinked. “As if the same thing didn’t happen to you. Let me tell you, your true love is also here tonight.”

Janet was stunned. Before she could react, a car’s engine revved behind her.

Then, she saw Liam Jackman’s car cruising toward her.

She was taken aback and turned pale.

Nell had only just learned that Liam would be here as well.

Coincidentally, Nell already knew Liam a long time ago. Previously, Janet fancied him, so Nell paid special attention to this man.

Furthermore, they studied in the same high school.

Unexpectedly, Liam turned out to be Old Madam Griffin’s grandson.

Back then, Charles Griffin and his wife got a divorce. After that, his ex-wife found out that she was pregnant.

She took the baby along with her and brought him up. Later, she got sick and revealed to Liam about his familial background before she passed away.

Today, Old Madam Griffin brought Liam back to the family. Out of respect, the Griffins did not change his surname. They merely wished that he would accept his family members.

After all, the Griffins tried to look for him too, but his mother hid him from them, so the Griffins never located him. Thus, they were not to be blamed.

As Liam was Old Madam Griffin’s grandson, and Old Madam Griffin happened to be best friends with Old Madam Quinton, Liam had the opportunity to secure himself a spot among the young elites of the capital city.

Moreover, he already knew Joel before this and they were close friends, so they were no strangers to each other.

Yet, Janet fell into a daze when she saw the man in front of her as if she had turned into ice.

Nell noticed something amiss with her and felt concerned. “Are you ok, Janet?”

Janet came to her senses and shook her head.

D*mn it, she should have known that he would be here!

The Griffins had returned to the country, and so would he!

Nell saw how pale Janet was and asked, “Are you unwell? Perhaps I shall accompany you back home?”

“It’s alright.”

Nell organized this gathering to welcome her return and to introduce her friends to Janet.

As the star of the party, she could not leave earlier or else it would be impolite.

Janet steadied herself and said, “I’m fine, let’s head inside.”

“Ok.”

Nell led her inside. Luckily, Liam merely glanced at Janet but did not do anything.

They entered the private room and Nell introduced her friends to Janet. Aside from Joel, Lucy was also invited.

Nell was aware of the fight that erupted between Janet and her father. Janet refused to return to Jincheng, so she had to remain in the capital for quite some time.

Janet did not have many friends here. As her bestie, Nell had to accompany her frequently, but she was not always free either.

Although Janet had given birth, she would not make a comeback so soon. During this period, she needed friends so that she had someone to talk to.

After the introduction by Nell, Janet exchanged greetings with the attendees and smiled politely.

Due to a large number of people and Nell’s preference for boisterous gatherings, she decided to order a steamboat instead of other dishes. Everyone sat around the steamboat to feast.

Coincidentally, Nell went to the restroom after a few bites and bumped into Tara Garrett.

Tara wore a light-colored dress tonight and looked fresh and cheery. In contrast to her prior mature appearance, she oozed innocence and mischief this time.

Nell felt surprised to meet her here.

She had nothing against Tara and quipped. “Are you here for dinner?”

Tara smiled sheepishly. “I had an appointment, but they didn’t show up due to an emergency, so I’m about to leave.”

Nell was stunned and regarded her closely. With her keen sense of observation, she detected a hint of loneliness in Tara and blurted out, “Do you want to join us? We have a huge crowd here and it’s rather lively.”

As soon as she said that, she immediately regretted it.
