Chapter 275
Spoiled by the President
âYou! Stephanie Garrett, youâre ruthless! You think youâre all that just because youâre the daughter of the Garrett family? Youâre just an imposter...â
âPah!â
A loud slap instantaneously fanned Justinâs face. Stephanieâs face was flushed with anger as she growled, âIf you dare to speak nonsense again, believe it or not, Iâll kill you! Now scram!â
Justinâs face was turned to the side from the impact, but an expression of hatred appeared in his eyes.
Nell shook her head.
âTsk, this looks like a cliche scene of enemies being born!â
She felt this was most likely how this drama would end. After all, Justin had nothing and simply ran to Stephanie without holding any chips; there was no way he would win.
Furthermore, he knew that Stephanie was an adopted daughter of the Garretts. This must be a sore spot for her, especially when the Garrett family was making no secret of trying to find their biological daughter.
However, he just had to strike that nerve!
Was he not just asking for a beating?
Now, she was already giving him face by simply slapping him instead of chasing him out with a big broom.
Nell shook her head and since he had lost interest in the scene, she turned to leave.
Unexpectedly, at this moment, there was a sudden âmeowâ.
A black shadow leaped out, scratched her face, and ran away.
Nell hissed in pain. When she touched her face, she found that there were three bloody scratches on her face that stung painfully.
âHissâ
âWhere did that cat come from? It must have done it on purpose!â
The noise she made alerted the two people not far away. Stephanie quickly strode over and pushed aside a branch, revealing Nell who was hiding behind them.
Her face was pale as she asked sternly, âWhat are you doing here?â
Nell paused. Naturally, she was not stupid to say that was eavesdropping on them after coming here for a walk. So, she could only play dumb.
âOh, Iâm looking for a cat. Right! I was chasing a cat over here when it disappeared. It even scratched me. Have you seen it?â
Stephanieâs expression darkened.
She turned back and locked eyes with Justin whose eyes also showed a look of horror.
âLooking for a cat? Hah! The Old Madam is afraid of cats. Who would dare to keep a cat here?â
Stephanieâs eyes were cold and sharp as they glared at her with murderous intent. It was completely different from the sunny appearance she had in the dining room.
Nellâs heart shivered.
âIs she going to silence me?
âShe wouldnât!
âAfter all, this is the Leith residence, and there are so many people around.â
Although that was what she thought, seeing the usually gentle and weak woman suddenly reveal such a stern look, Nell could not help but feel a little scared.
She smiled awkwardly, but her feet took a step back silently.
âI didnât lie to you. I really did see a cat. Even if I was lying, I canât lie about the wound on my face!â
Then, she moved her face forward. Under the sunlight, the three bloody marks on her fair skin were shocking to the eyes.
However, Stephanie still remained silent and stared at her with increasingly cold eyes.
Nell smiled. âMiss Garrett, why are you so nervous? By the way, whoâs the gentleman behind you? He looks a little familiar. Is he your friend?â
Stephanie said indifferently, âNo. I donât know him.â
âOh, I see.â
With a nod, Nell decided that she did not want to remain any longer.
âSince thereâs nothing else, Iâll leave first. The scratches I got from that damn cat are killing me. I donât even know if itâs been vaccinated or not. Iâll have to go to the doctor and get a shot first.â
With that, she quickly retreated.
As Nell left, she continued to feel a burning gaze behind her.
She knew that she had found out about Stephanieâs secret today. Regardless of whether she would tell the public or not, she had become a thorn in Stephanieâs eyes.
However, she did not mind.
Although Stephanie was the daughter of the Garretts, looking at her performance today, it seemed like she was not as weak as she usually acted.
However, Nell was not afraid. In any case, she did not have the intention to eavesdrop intentionally, so her conscience was clear.
Very quickly, Gideon was done talking to the Old Master. Since he had agreed to accompany Nell home in the afternoon, he looked everywhere for her as soon as he came out.
However, after looking around the living room and the drawing room, he still could not find her. It was only after asking a maid that he learned that she had gone to take a stroll in the garden.
Although it was only late autumn now, the weather in the capital was very cold, and Nell had only worn thin layers today. Afraid that she would catch a cold because of that, Gideon hastened his steps.
The two met under the archway between the two courtyards.
The moment Nell saw him, she pulled him over.
âItâs so windy outside. What are you doing here? Youâll catch a cold.â
The man spoke as he took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
Nell waved. âItâs fine. Come with me. I have something to tell you.â
âWhat is it?â
Nell looked behind and grabbed his sleeve instead. âLetâs talk after we leave.â
The two of them returned to the living room to say goodbye to the Old Madam before leaving the house.
After getting into the car, Nell took a gulp of water before saying, âCan you guess who I saw in the back garden earlier?â
âWho?â
âStephanie Garrett.â
Gideon frowned in confusion. âWhatâs wrong with her?â
âShe was together with a man. I recognized that man. Heâs called Justin Harker, an artiste under Anning International. Heâs also the one whoâs been making a lot of noise these past two days. The two of them seem to have some emotional disputes and arenât very happy.â
Gideon hummed lowly for a moment before saying, âAlthough the Leiths and Garretts are friends, weâve never cared about such things. At most, we would help each other out on major events. Stephanie is already in her twenties now, itâs not strange for her to fall in love.â
Nell shook her head.
âNo, thatâs not it. I heard Justin say something about dumping his old woman in order to be with Stephanie. I think there are some problems with this person.â
Gideon was stunned. âHis old woman?â
âYeah.â Nell nodded. Then, she remembered that Gideon was usually busy and naturally did not pay attention to the news in the entertainment industry. Even if it had to do with an artiste from his own company, he most likely did not know about it.
Thus, Nell quickly told him about what Cherry had told her earlier.
After that, she added, âI think that Justin isnât very reasonable and tends to be quite extreme. If thereâs really something between Stephanie and him, and they decide to break up now, Iâm afraid that heâll do something drastic.â
Gideon looked at her.

âWhy are you looking at me like that?â
âItâs nothing.â He paused to tell the chauffeur to drive. Then, he looked back to stare at her again.
Nell grew more and more worried.
âGideon Leith, stop looking at me like that. Youâre making me uncomfortable.â
