Chapter 119
Spoiled by the President
Nell darted a cold glance at her. âOh? Kindness?â
She scoffed. âIf itâs kindness, why doesnât she give it to you instead? Arenât you her favorite granddaughter?â
âNell Jennings!â
Shaun reproached in fury.
Celine put on an upset look as though she was wronged.
âSister, you know I already have Brother Jay. How can you say such a thing? Grandmother has always doted on you but you yourself...â
âEnough!â
Sylvia interrupted her before turning over to stare at Nell with a glint in her eyes.
âJust say it. Do you agree to this marriage arrangement?â
Nell threw a glance at Dylan.
Dylan eagerly kept a close eye on her, not flinching despite all that was said earlier.
So it seemed that Sylvia had told him about her relationship with Gideon.
Ha! Since someone was willing to jump straight into the fire, she might as well help him with his wish.
She faintly replied, âI never said no.â
Sylviaâs eyes lit up. âSo youâre saying yes?â
âI could say yes but for the time being, I want to move back in.â
Celine frowned. âSister, donât you have your own place to stay?â
Nell gave her a fake smile.
âWerenât you the one who said Gideon and I arenât in it for the long run? If thatâs the case, I should move out.â
âBut you have your own house...â
âAre you saying no? Forget it then!â Nell said.
Sylvia immediately cut in. âI agree with it!â
She paused before continuing in a low voice. âYou are part of our family, so of course you have to marry out of the family. Itâs decided then. I donât want to hear any more objections.â
Celine was in the dumps about Nell moving back in but her mood quickly picked up at the thought that Nell would soon marry a person like Dylan.
Apart from her, Dylan was feeling over the moon.
One minute the woman was brusque towards him; the next, she turned around and gave her word to their marriage.
Was this a pie in the sky realized?
With his face red from being hot with emotions, he rubbed his hands together.
âWe should fix a date!â
Sally commented, âOh, I just happen to have a friend who checked an auspicious date for her daughter. She mentioned that this coming weekend is a good date but itâs pretty rushed.â
âNo, itâs not hasty at all. Doesnât that leave us with a week?â
Shaun uttered.
Dylan grew even more excited.
âIt is indeed pressing for time to be married this weekend but itâs not like it canât be done. Let me return to make preparations. I wonât do you wrong.â
Without a word, Nell curled her lips into a smile.
Sylvia smiled and remarked, âWeâll be troubling you then. You know youngsters nowadays, getting hitched after knowing each other for three days.
The weekend marks one week of you two knowing each other. Itâs not rushed at all. As for the wedding, it can be replaced on a later date.â
âYes.â Shaun echoed her views. âMr. Cap, if you really donât want to do Nelly wrong, you can make it up with more betrothal gifts.â
Sally swiftly shot a steely look of warning at Shaun.
Holding his tongue, Shaun turned and kept his eyes peeled on Nellâs expression.
However, the girl, who should be angry or at least displeased, was taking a scoop out of her soup to drink. There was no sign of ill humor.
It was as though they were in discussion of another matter unrelated to her.
Shaun was dumbstruck.
Dylan grinned. âOf course the betrothal gifts are a must. Iâll begin preparations once Iâm back. You wonât be disappointed.â
Snapping out of his thoughts, Shaun burst into laughter.
âGreat, great. Come, let us toast for this joyous moment.â
With that, everyone raised their glasses.
Celine smiled too. âIâve always thought that Iâll be the one marrying first. I canât believe my sister's going ahead of me. Iâm happy for you. Sister, let me toast to you.â
Nell lifted her head and threw Celine a feigned smile.
Still tight-lipped, Nell raised her glass but instead of clinking glass, she downed the drink.
Celine secretly curled her lips in contempt but this was not enough to rain on her parade. Hence, she took a sip of her drink.
Out of everyone present, Jason was the only who did not raise his glass. A furrow formed between his brows.
âNell, have you thought it through? Are you really going to marry at a time like this?â
He could be wrong but something just did not feel right.
Although he did not know Dylan Cap personally, he had heard stories.
Sure, the man was with substantial resources and could be considered one of the invisible rich. However, he had a complicated history and was up to the neck in underground dealings. Moreover, the man may put on a gentle and polite front, but behind closed doors, he was a malicious character.
The death of his ex-wife was a prime example.
Despite Nellâs poor relationship with the family, the Jennings should not have introduced such a man to her!
Nevertheless, he was still an outsider as he had not tied the knot with Celine.
Although he had his suspicions, it was not the place to speak his mind.
Thus, he beat around the bush with a question.
Nell put down her glass and smiled at him.
The woman, after a little bit of wine, had a faint flush on her cheeks that highlighted her tender and fair skin.
Tilting her head to a side, she propped her hand under her cheek and flapped her smiling eyes at him. She really embodied a delicate flower.
âFor Young Master Morton to show such concern, do you still have feelings for me?â
The air suddenly grew intense.
Gagged in the moment, everyone stared at Nell in disbelief.
Sylvia frowned.
âNell! What are you saying with people around?â
Nell pursed her lips. She seemed to have too much to drink.
âI didnât say anything! I only asked because he had my best interest in mind. I was thinking that perhaps he still loves me. Jason Morton, do you think weâd still be together if I hadnât caught you in bed with Celine?â
The expression on Celineâs face cracked and crumbled.
Glowering, Jason coldly blurted, âNell Jennings, what happened between us is in the past. Why do you need to bring it up?â
Between the people on scene, only Dylan was without a clue.
Sylvia had mentioned to him the questionable relationship between Nell and Gideon. She was worried because Gideon was an engaged man.
Nevertheless, she never touched on Nell being Jasonâs girlfriend in the past.
At a loss, Dylan glanced at Nell, then at Jason. He asked, âWhat are you talking about? Young Master Morton, arenât you Second Miss Jenningsâ
boyfriend? Why...â

âExcuse me, Iâm feeling rather unwell. Iâm going to take a rest upstairs.â
She stood up and left the scene in a hurry.
Jason immediately got up to chase after her.
âCeline, wait up for me.â
As he walked out of the dining hall, Jason halted his footsteps and turned back to take a glance at Nell.
âYouâre always like this, taking kindness for granted! I wonât meddle in your business anymore, suit yourself!â
With that, he angrily left in pursuit of Celine.
