Chapter 106
Spoiled by the President
Nell blinked back in confusion.
She did not expect Gideon to take her angry comment seriously.
She moaned when she felt a small pain on the chin. âWhat are you doing? It hurts!â she said, annoyed.
âAnswer me.â
The manâs eyes were cold, his voice laced with intimidation.
Nell immediately surrendered under his piercing stare.
Her eyebrows twitched. âTo which question?â
âWho am I?â
â...â
Nell was speechless.
How stupid! Had he no idea who he was?
It was a shame that she only dared to think that to herself. She would never dare to express this opinion out loud.
She revealed a flattering smile before replying honestly, âGideon Leith.â
âHmm?â
â????â
Nell was at a loss for words.
Was that the incorrect answer?
She tried again, more tentatively this time. âPresident Leith?â
â...â
Gideon remained silent.
âHaha... You canât possibly want me to call you Mr. President!â
Nell knew that was the wrong answer upon discovering the flurry of emotions that stormed across the manâs features.
âHa! One last chance. Think properly, hmm?â
Nell bit her lips.
âDonât do that!â
Biting those red lips with her white teeth made her look pitifully beautiful. It gave the man the urge to ravage them!
That was the reason why he pressed harder on her chin to stop her from doing so.
Nell grunted in pain.
Simultaneously, an idea flashed across her mind.
She looked at him in disbelief as if coming to a realization.
Then, she stammered with uncertainty, âHus... Husband?â
Gideon laughed in a cold manner.
âRemember this term of endearment. Besides, I donât want to hear that ever again, even if you didnât mean it!â
The manâs gaze was cold and nonchalant as he warned her with a voice that reeked of intimidation. âUnderstand?â
Nell was rather confused but she nodded tactfully nonetheless.
Finally, Gideon released his grip and walked across the room. He noticed his cell phone on the bedside table when he was about to get into bed.
He twitched his beautiful eyebrows and shifted his attention toward her.
Nell quickly explained herself. âSomeone called earlier. I tried to get your attention but you didnât reply. I answered the call by accident.â
She felt slightly diffident at the thought of this.
Without commenting further, Gideon picked up his phone to have a look.
âWhat did she say to you?â
Nell revealed an embarrassed smile.
âNot much. Um... Sheâs your daughter, right?â
Gideon turned around to face her.
A couple of seconds later, he corrected. âOur daughter.â
â...â
Nell was stunned into silence.
Fortunately, she was not drinking water at this moment or she would have undoubtedly choked herself.
On second thought, she and Gideon were now legally married, thus his daughter would naturally become her daughter too.
She had gotten herself a daughter out of the blue. Nell, who had initially been slightly stunned, became delighted in a matter of seconds.
âThatâs right. It seems like good news after all.â
She did not dislike the child. Besides, for reasons unknown to herself, while listening to the voice over the phone earlier, she felt rather familiar with the child despite not having met her before.
Nell thought it was intriguing. A bubble of laughter escaped her mouth seconds later.
âI wonder if sheâs the cutesy type. Hmm... Itâs best if she doesnât take after your bad temperament. Itâs not good for a girl to have moody behavior.â
Gideon held her gaze with quiet intensity. âWell, who should she take after then?â
âHer mother, of course!â
It was only then that Nell realized she had no idea who the childâs birth mother was.
She enquired immediately, âIs she the child of your ex-girlfriend? Have you been married before?!â
â...â
Gideon was speechless.
Where was Thorâs Hammer again? Could he borrow it for a little bit?
It suddenly dawned on Nell that this would not be possible.
After all, if Gideon had indeed been married before, she would be informed when they visited the Ministry of Civil Affairs for their marriage ceremony.
Nell smiled mockingly. Gideon, on the other hand, did not comment further but agreed with her.
âIndeed, she takes after her mother.â
After a brief second of hesitation, he grabbed his cell phone and headed to the balcony. âI should return her call.â
Nell nodded.
She followed the man outside with her eyes. Under the immense sky and the illumination of the warm yellow light, the man stood tall and straight as he spoke softly into the phone.
Nell laid on the bed on her stomach to watch the man intently. She propped her chin up with one hand.
All of a sudden, she realized this man was not as cruel and heartless as the public made him out to be.
At least he treated her well and fulfilled the duty of a good father.
The corners of Nellâs lips twitched into a subconscious smile.
Gideon was on the phone for a long time.
It was in his nature to spoil this little child.
The child was upset by the fact that he had missed the first call, not to mention that Nell had answered the second one without replying. The child thought her father was deliberately avoiding speaking with her.
The little devil was finally satisfied after having a long conversation with her father.
Gideon said tenderly, âItâs getting late. Can you go to bed like a good girl?â
The childâs sweet voice entered the phone.
âOkay! But you mustnât ignore my phone calls again ya?â
Gideon rubbed his brows helplessly.
âI might miss it sometimes. Like when I put it on silent mode during meetings.â
âI wonât call when youâre in meetings.â
âReally?â
âOf course, nana told me that daddy works really hard so I shouldnât disturb you. Thatâs why I only call you at night!â
Gideon did not think the crafty little devil could be considerate too.
A smile took over his face.
âAlright then, I promise Iâll always answer your calls in the future.â
The child was finally satisfied. Soon, however, her voice was laced with a hint of sadness.
âDaddy, actually, I call you because I miss you.â
Gideon froze.
A peculiar emotion materialized in his heart.
The child continued on. âBut nana doesnât allow me to go to you. Daddy, when will you be back? I miss you so much. Everyone else has a daddy and mommy but I have neither. Lizzyâs miserable! No one likes me. Waa...â
He knew that the child was only putting on a pretense. After all, he had taken a stopover to meet the girl during his last work trip.
In spite of that, he was moved nonetheless at the sound of that soft pleading and pretend crying.
âBe good, daddy will be back soon.â
âHow soon is soon?â
The bright child would not be tricked easily!
âOne month!â
âWaa... Daddy doesnât like Lizzy anymore; daddy doesnât like Lizzy anymore. Waa... Waa...â

Gideon held his forehead helplessly.
He had no other alternative than to try to persuade the child again. It was his own fault for having spoiled the child terribly.
âOne month is the soonest I can do. I wonât return in a month if you keep crying. Not just me but also the mommy that I found you,â he replied patiently.
The child ceased wailing immediately.
